Beer, bar, bulldog
Gasoline Alley is tops in all three
BY VALERIE DORSEY _
Renee Lesley shows off dart equipment sold In
Gasoline Alley's Dart Shop. "The Alley," accor-
ding to a recent survey, is one of UT El Peso's
favorite hangouts.
According to the UT
El paso community,
the best place to
eat, drink and be
merry Is Gasoline
Alley.
Students, faculty and
staff who participated In a
recent survey conducted by
The Prospector, chose "The
Alley" as the best bar in El
Paso. They also voted the
watering hole as having the
best beer In town as well as
the best Colorado Bulldogs
Clint Newsom . owner of
the establishment located at
2514 North Mesa, said the
business has been "good
and steady" throughout its
five years.
He credits the popularity
of Gasoline Alley to the at-
mosphere.
"It's comfortable, but not
a joint and it's clean and
comfortable," Newsom
said. “During lunch, on Mon-
day nights, and after a
game, is when most of the
people come here."
Along with the at-
mosphere, Gasoline Alley
has 50 types of beer for
clients to choose from.
Newsom said they serve all
of the domestic beers along
with 30 import beers which
he said are quite popular
among the younger
clientele
“Young people seem to
like it because it's (imported
beer) new and they are more
apt to trying it than older
people," Newsom explain-
ed.
For those who prefer
something other than beer,
surveyors said "The Alley"
is the best place to Indulge
In Colorado Bulldogs.
What is a Colorado
Bulldog?
According to this
establishment, It's a
16-ounce drink containing
an ounce and a half shot of
Vodka, cream, Kahlua and a
"splash" of Coca-Cola.
Newsom said he thinks
Colorado Bulldogs are a
popular drink at "The Alley"
because they are served in i
large glass and because
“real" Kahlua is used In-
stead of a cheaper imita-
tion.
