and was the voice of Miner

the choice of Cotroneo
"I'm happy, to an extent at
least, that they’ve chosen
someone from my hometown of
Brooklyn, N Y Maybe it takes a
bunch of wild guys from
Brooklyn io do PA," he said
Cotroneo said he had received
words of congratulation and en-
couragement from Streizen, but
stressed that he was not out to
create the same type of image for
himself
“Paul has a unique style, and a
very food style I'm not po-
ins to be Paul. I’m not replacing
Paul. I m tun merely stepping in,
and Vince C otroneo is going to
do his job | hope I can keep it at
the standard it has been at for the
past ten years — it is a pretty
high standard," he explained
Cotroneo, who is most corn
fortable with baseball, expressed
his delight with being associated
with the winning Diablo
organization and said he was not
familiar with University athletics
Asked how he fell about the fact
that the Miners have not fielded a
winning football team in recent
memory. Cotronco was pensive
and positive

place at the right time. I don't

Coach Yung has been here now
for three or four years | guess, so
maybe it is just going to be
established You know it’s still
going to be fun, it’s still college
football on a Saturday whether
it’s winning or losing and that’s a
unique atmosphere and it’s a tun
atmosphere," he said
Cotroneo attended one Miner
basketball game last season and
said he was impressed by their
style and reputation
The amiable announcer said he
is looking forward to a long and
pleasant association with Univer-

problems," he said
