On Saturday and Sunday,
June 6-7, a yard sale will be
held at the Wall home, 504
E. Bandera Rd., to benefit
the Kreutzberg Shooting
Club. The sale will begin at
9:00 a.m. each day and end
at 5:00 p.m.
Burn ban in effect
A county-wide burn ban is
in effect. Outdoor burning is
a criminal offense unless
the fire is contained in a
fireproof barrel with a wire
mesh barrier on top. A run-
ning water source must be
located within five feet of
the contained fire.
Violators will be cited and
may be fined up to $500.
Persons convicted of two or
more offenses may be fined
up to $1,000 or sentenced
up to 180 days in jail.
Dating workshop

On Wednesday, June 3,

City adopt
water
conservation
plan

At an abbreviated session last
Tuesday night, the City Council
adopted the proposed City of
Boerne Water Conservation Plan.
Director of Public Works John
Moring briefed the council on the
plan, explaining that the Texas
Water Development Board
requires each loan applicant to
have a “properly adopted water-
conservation and drought-man-
agement plan.” Moring said the
city has had a “good, solid”
drought-management plan for the
past ten years but needed to sub-
mit a detailed water-conservation
plan that meets AWWA (American
Water Works Association) stan-
dards.
The city’s primary conservation
goal over the next five years,
Moring reported, is to reduce the
average annual daily water con-
sumption from 173 to 164 gallons
per capita, a decrease of 5%. He
cited such measures as updating
plumbing codes and requiring
AWWA-certified meters to achieve
that goal. Moring added that unac-
counted-for water is “coming
down,” with a projected goal of

On Thursday, June 4, from 7-11 p.m., Hill Country Writers Guild (HCWG) will host a Battle of the
Bands for middle- and high-school youth bands at Boerne Community Center. Tickets are $5 each
and may be purchased from band members, Fantastic Gymnastics or Dry Creek Music. Some of
the participating bands are Prime, Vendetta, Euphoria, Slackjaw, Fork 7, and Vinyl. For more
