NThe 1998-99 Feast Patriots junior varsity basketball team had a 25-6 record
this past season. The team includeds on the back row (from left) assistant

Feast Patriot JV
has 25-6 season
The basketball season has come
to an end for many home school
teams in the San Antonio area.

The Feast Patriot JV won 1st
The local and area home school place in its division at the State
teams are highly organized and
competitive. Practices and games
are available for boys and girls at all
age levels.
The Feast Patriots junior varsity
boys team participated against pri-
vate and public schools throughout
the 1998-99 season and ended up
with an outstanding 25-6 record.
Numerous home schoolers from
the Boerne area have played in the
Feast basketball program.
The Feast JV boys are coached by
Boerne’s Steve Riebel along with
Home School basketball tournament
on Feb. 11-13 and placed second at
the National Conference in San
Antonio on Feb. 22-26.
Boerne’s Matt Riebel was award-
ed All-American honors at the State
and National events. Boerne’s Phil
Bassett was also named All-
American at Nationals.

Hound golfers in action
Boys play today, girls at Fredericksburg
Playing short-handed due to
Spring Break, the Boerne High
School boys golf team participated
in the two-day San Antonio ISD
Tournament on March 12-13 at the
Mission Del Lago Course,
The Greyhounds placed ninth in
the team competition with a two-
day, 36-hole score of 664 (319-345).
Austin Anderson won the event
with a 605 score (292-313).
Sharyland was second at 641 (314-
327) and Bastrop finished third at
646 (313-333).
Boerne junior Thomas Garza shot
a high school career-best par score
of 72 on the opening day on March
12. Garza finished fifth overall after
firing an 81 on March 13. He fin-
ished with a 36-hole score of 153.
Other Greyhound totals included
Matt Toohey 161 (80-81), Austin
Apecilla 170 (79-91) and Jeremy
Halmuda 180 (88-92).
After great playing conditions on
March 12 (a Friday), a cold front
blew in on March 13 turning the
second round into an endurance test,
according to BHS Golf Coach
James Wright.
The Hound golfers are at the San
Antonio Churchill Tournament
today and Saturday (March 27) at
the Willow Springs Course in San
Antonio.
The Boerne girls golf team plays
at the Fredericksburg Tournament
on Tuesday (March 30).
Boerne’s Thomas Garza (right) fired

March 12 at the San Antonio ISD
Tournament.

win regular seasons and trips into
the second round of the playoffs,
don’t look for a NBA title or even
a Western Conference crown any-
time soon.
The annual Boerne Track Meet
will be held Saturday (March 27)
with field events and the 3,200
meters getting things started at 9
a.m. with running prelims next and
the finals to begin one hour after
the completion of the prelims. The
event will feature seven teams with
four divisions - girls and boys
junior varsity and varsity.
There’s also a softball makeup
game Saturday morning at Boerne
High with Kerrville Tivy visiting
the Lady Greyhounds at 10 a.m.
