er as a freshman. Boerne head boys basketball coach Stan Leech said
“As a freshman, you could tell there was something that focus is what took Burdick to All Region honors
in his senior high school season, then on to the next
level.
“You talk about all the great basketball players at
Boerne and he’s definitely in the mix,” Leech said.
“He has gotten the most out of his ability. He was
religious about being in the gym. He had great drive
and was very coachable. He was tough on himself.”
But that drive to succeed isn’t limited to basketball.
Jones said the business major has been a great addi-
tion to the program because of his classroom perfor-
mance as well.
“I can’t stand to lose at anything,” Burdick said. “If
something is due and I’m running late, 1 can’t stand
for it to be late. I have to get it in on time. I can’t
stand for my grades to be mediocre. I want to do
everything the best 1 can.”
That drive is why Jones expects Burdick to contin-
ue to rise in the Hilltoppers’ program.
“I expect him to compete for a starting position,”
Jones said. “And of course, continue to shoot that
ball.”
And, undoubtedly, to top new hills.
