A strong wind blew a barn’s roof
off and part of the barn Sunday
afternoon at the home of Emil and
Dorothy Kneupper in Kendalia. It
picked it up and over two fences just
below the house. Dorothy says she
thought they built it in 1958.
Another small barn next to it wasn’t
touched.

Grey Forest Utilities Board of trustees
announces their scholarship winners
Grey Forest Utilities chose this 5
unusual way of utilizing its public :
relations and advertising1 budget -
again this year as it has for the past -
nine years. Fifty scholarships for
college education assistance have
been awarded since the program
began.
All GFU customers and their inde-
pendents are eligible to apply for
GFU’s community scholarships.
The competitive applications are -
submitted directly to the CRM |
Scholarship Foundation for evalua-
tion.
After the evaluation process has
been completed by CRM, recom-
mendations for the awards are then
submitted to the GFU board of |
trustees.
The trustees have always accepted
and acted on the foundation’s rec-
ommendations.
These scholarships are unusual in
that 10 different qualification items
are considered in making the
awards, not just academic standing.
Also considered are contributions to

Babino to highlight Friday Features
Join us for this week’s Friday Features
program Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. Our featured per-
former will be Mark Babino, a San
Antonio storyteller. Mark is also a primary
school teacher. He is a very rhythmic and
active storyteller, highly sensitive to age-
appropriate stories and activities, and he
does a lot of audience interaction-type sto-
ries. He is especially able to respond to an
audience’s interests and needs on the spot!
Join us for Mark’s performance on the
Treefrog Stage. Tickets are $3 and seating
is limited, so advance purchase is recom-
mended.
