House hill appealed the case In the District
court and his fine has been reduced to $25.

same time for interfering with an officer had

Unfair Weight.
Captain Kdgar gave evidence against Ar-
nold a butcher this morning who was
charged with selling meat and charging for
more than he delivered. The Captain bought
two bits worth ol chops from Arnold and dis-
covered their weight wat a pound and three
ouncet Instead of a pound and three-quarters
and he told Arnold to. The defendant wat
fined $5.
A Ten Dollar l.lrk.
I'aury Shumperlich a l'olander together
with two or three of hit companions went
into a yard where Valentine I'ollock was
sleeping and took tome of his fodder. "That's
no way to act" said Valentine on finding his
fodder gone. For his reply lie received one
from the right shoulder which however he
guarded. Hut I'aury resorted to a club and
hit him over the head. He paid $10 this
morning for that lick.

Double Matrimony
This morning at 9 o'clock two bridal pairs
drove up from the Salado to the St. Joseph's
Catholic church In order to be united in mat-
rimony. The first couple were Lucas Sul-
tenfus and Theresa Thetss the trcond were
Joseph HartI and Annie Thciss. Both brides
were attired In bridal costume and were sup-
ported by neatly dressed bridesmaids. The
grooms were each attended by a groomsmin.
As they passed down the aisle of the church
the bridal chimes were rung and the orgsn
pealed forth its wedding march. At the altar
they were received by Rer. John Kirch who
read the marriage service and then the mass
was performed during which both the happy
pair took the communion. They then drove
back to the Salado.

Light by the award of the second prize cup
where the first prize wat due I'rofetsor
Katzenberger said 1 " It's a d d shame 1
The Light is the only paper that gave a cor-
rect report of my music and the operetta."
And whereas last night the Professor comes
out with a card In the Timet and said or Is re-
puted to say t " I hereby state that I never
made any such remark as I am quoted as
maklm; in yesterday's Evening Light con-
cerning the 'cupttoty.' I limply laid that I
gave every paper In the city a full and I think
correct statement of the musical affairs of the
Volktlett I. e. names of singers musicians
and musical programme as executed in my
department. I don't like to be any further
concerned In this matter about the cup."

of Fort Concho has been brought to this city

A Light reporter was informed that Mrs.
Whitting'a face was powder burned from the
close proximity of the pistol at the time of the
firing.
Houston Jackson a negro desperado of
Castrovillc well known in the city was ar-
rested yesterday for stealing lumber at the
Castroville depot.
There are three things that are incom-
prehensible and uncertain the decision of a
woman the verdict of a petty jury and the
award of prize judges.
A motion for a new trial in the case of L
Wolfson for blocking up the sidewalk was
made this morning by Mr. lierry lawyer for
defendant. The Recorder will consider the
motion.
Thomas Gonzales a Mexican on being
asked why he disturbed the peace of Emma
Nun a colored woman said he was drunk
not only then but he was drunk every day.
The Recorder fined him $5.
The Light acknowledges the receipt of a
complimentary ticket for the Young Men's
Benevolent association ball at the Casino on
Saturday evening next. The arrangement
committee are William Hoefiing Jr. Herman
Heiligmann and R. R. Martinez.

Lee Howard appeared before the Recorder
this morning on a charge of earless driving.
Howard was driving a passenger bus from
Ihe Sunset depot alongside a street car the
conductor of which said Howard drove Into
his car and threw it oil the track. Howard
siateu ine street car slopped and the right
tide was blocked with a warron. he therefore
continued on the left side and attempted to
cross the track. In the meantime the car had
picked tin ill nassemrers. and. Instead nf
waiting for the bus to cross the driver came
on anu couiaeu with me bus. 1 he cue was
dismissed.
