"Tbo rich can rldo In chaises
Hut tbo poor must walk by Javsus"
was the Irishman's soliloquy as he counted
the ties between Iioston and New York. This
idea has lound a lodgement in the bosom of
some hack owners llut the street cars whi:h
afford cheap urban transportation for all and
are decidedly of the people and for the people
mult be brought up with a round Aldermsnic
jttk.
It is a complaint with many that our side
walks are too narrow and yet with all this two
persons can hardly walk abreast thereon by
reason of the petty curbstone merchants
blocking them up wilh the display of their
wares. The candy man lazily swinging his
horse tail broth and the fruit venuor likewise
have on some of the public streets declared
an embargo agsinst both pedestrians and
trade. This should be abated.
