Another Open Letter Again
Challenges Senator on
Klan Stand.
“DEFIES” ALABAMAN
Says He Can Get 200
Texans to Refute Any
Charges of Lawmaker.
Washington. D. C. Feb. It.—R. B.
Creager Republican national commit-
teeman from Texas in another open
letter sent to Senator Heflin Demo-
crat Alabama again challenged the
senator to make known his attitude
toward the Ku Klux Klan.
Mr. Creager also dared Senator
Heflin to press his resolution which
contemplates investigation into al-
leged land frauds in the Rio Grande
Valley of Texas with which Mr. Hef-
lin find connected Mr. Creager's
name.
A number of clippings from Demo-
cratic newspapers *in Texas were en-
closed in the letter and Mr. Creager
said he “defied" the Alabama senator
to read them into the Congressional
Record. _
The clippings told of Mr. Creagers
standing in Texas and he said “de-
nounced" Mr. Heflin and his resolu-
tion. . .
Mr. Creager reiterated the charge
that his activity in the Mayfield elec-
tion case and against the Ku Klux
Klan was behind the Heflin resolu-
tion. and announced that if the in-
vestigation is held he will summon
200 of the 'catling citizens of Texas
to refute charges made by Mr. Hef-
lin.
