The meeting of cx-Confcderates In the
District i ourt room last night was well
attended and the heroes of many a hard
fought Held met to tell again the story of
their suffering privations and struggles
for the cause which though lost they
still love.
In the absence of Commander Tcel
A. B. Chevalier Esq. was called
to the chair. The object of the meeting
lie said was to perfect the permanent
organization of the Tom Green Encamp-
ment of ex-Confederate soldiers In pur-
suance of the preliminary proceedings
had at Ban Pedro springs on the 1th
Instant. Mr. K. P. Clatidon was chosen
Secretary. A committee composed of
T. T. Teel W. A. Wallace and George
11. Dashlell was appointed to revise the
constitution and by-laws. A proposi-
tion to elect moro Vice-Commanders on
account of the frequent absence from
the city of Commander Teel and
the non residence In the city of the Vice
Commander called out the names of
(leorgc It. Dashlell W. W". Wallace and
W. II. Young but before theae were
balloted upon It was suggested that It
would be better to await ine report ot
tlm committee on constitution. The
constitution and by-lnwa which had
been prevloualy nastily auopieu were
also referred to this committee. Mr. W.
Ferguson proposed to open communica-
tion with ltlchmond. and secure the
constitution and by-laws of the encamp
ment mere lor a mouei. tie was nuucu

signed the roll. Mr. Chevalier In a Tew
eloquent words alluded to the cause as
the nobleat In the world and called on
all old Confederate soldiers to come for
ward and put down their names.

The assembly was next treated to a
brief but stirring address from Dr.
