DENTON, Tex., Mar. 13. —
Spots, North Texas State Col-
lege’s sewer-watching dog has
finally been convinced that there
is nothing down the hole, and
has lost interest after staring
down the college side-walk drain
since Jan. 20.
The dog, who has been featur-
ed in leading newspapers
throughout the nation and who
was Life Magazine’s picture of
the week on March 4, watched
Denton firemen flush the sewer-
hole this weekend, in the pres-
ence of more than 150 visitors
on the campus.
When firemen poured gallons
of water into the sidewalk drain,
the mongrel dog had to be re-
strained as he attempted to crawl
down the sewer. Later firemen
and college officials led the dog
to the far end of the drain where
it emptied into a flat basin near
the college power house and al-
lowed him to inspect the con-
tents.
Spots interestedly watched the
procedure about 15 minutes,
then, disgusted, walked away.
College officials had the drain
cleaned following requests by
telephone, wire and letter from
all sections of the United States,
Canada and Mexico. The drain
held nothing . . . and now even
Spots is convinced.
This week, college officials no-
ticed the dog at the hole only oc-
casionally and then he only hesi-
tated, then passed it by. Spots
has a home now, and although
the gypsy dog prefers to roam
the campus and belong to the
student body in general, he finds
his way to his new home at meal-
time and is beginning to put on
weight.
To My Pastorate of
Sealy and Vicinity
At all times we are constant-
ly reminded by the Holy Spirit,
that the Bible is the very words
of God spoken to men and were
written just as they received
them from God. For instance,
how did Moses know “The life
of the flesh is in the blood,”
Leviticus 17:11, 1500 years before
Christ? How did Job know 1600
years Before Christ that “He
hangeth the earth upon noth-
ing,” when the great argument
of Job’s day was “the earth rests
upon the back of four elephants
who stand on the back of a giant
turtle? (Job 26:7) How did Isaiah
know that Christ was to be born
of a Virgin mother, 700 years
before His birth? (Isaiah 7:14),
Or 500 years Before Christ, how
did Micah know (Micah 5:2) that
he was to be born in the very
city of Bethlehem? How could
these men know these things
hundreds of years ahead of time
if God did not REVEAL it to
them?
So we see the Bible is the
Highest Authority in ALL mat-
ters of the Christian Faith. We
are not to take the words of MAN
against the WORD of GOD. God
says, “Those who say, I abide in
Christ, they ought to live and
walk in the same manner of con-
duct as did our Savior and Lord
Jesus.” (I John 2:6)
The Bible commands EVERY
Christian to LIVE like Christ,
12 months in the year, 24 hours
a day, and not just on SUNDAY
or in SPORADIC times of
PIOUSNESS.
