“JINGLE BELLS”
The Christmas spirit has al-
ready invaded the classrooms of
the elementary school and dress-
ed them gaily for the holidays —
multicolored gumdrop trees,
shapely cedars and slender spruc-
es with their glowing lights and
glittering tinsel bespeak the seas-
on. And mistletoe? Peggy Kerr
saw to it that wasn’t left out.
Christmas Carols that ring out
during the day, stories, records,
and posters make Christmas seem
very near and very real.
SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK
During the week of Dec. 13-17
we have been having class par-
ties each day at noon. Each of the
high school classes has had an
appropriate table decoration and
each group has enjoyed the fun
of eating at tables set aside for
that day. All of us enjoy the
slightest excuse for a social get-
together and high school pupils
have taken advantage of the op-
portunity to have a party in the
lunch room during School Lunch
Week. We have had several visi-
tors during the week.

Local Ladies Spend
Day Helping Vets
Ready For Holidays
A quintet of Sealy ladies spent
Tuesday of last week at McClos-
key V. A. Hospital in Temple,
where they assisted confined vet-
erans with gift selections for
their families. The major port-
ion of their time was devoted
to assisting medical patients in
finding what they considered
the best gift for members of
their families. The gifts were
contributed by American Legion
posts and Auxiliaries, and other
individuals. These gifts were
beautifully wrapped after the
men made their selections.
The latter portion of the visit
was spent in the tubercular
ward, in the same type of work.
The local ladies visiting the
hospital along with auxiliary la-
dies and other voluntary work-
ers, included Mesdames Leslie
Wensel, Eddie Hluchan, Robert
Oldag, Frank Russ, and Rodie
O’Connor. Mrs. Wensel served
as typist throughout the after-
noon, while Mrs. O'Connor and
Mrs. Hluchan assisted the vets
in making their selections. Mrs.
Russ and Mrs. Oldag were em-
ployed in the wrapping depart-
ment.
finished the day the way it
started. fr
These pictures, as well as many &
of the snapshots, will be used in y
the school annual.
FRESHMEN NEWS §
School Lunch Week is being) a
observed in our school and the
different grades take turn in eat-
ing as a group in the lunchroom.
Monday was the Freshmen’s turn
and the menu consisted of chip-
ped roast, gravy, potatoes, beans,
pickled beets, pears, and milk.
The freshmen were served from
a table decorated with artificial
flowers and pine cones on nap-
kins. The students enjoyed their
lunch hour.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL NEWS
The Grammar School students
wish to thank Mr. Walters and the
F. F. A. boys for building the
stands for the Christmas trees
for each room.
BASKETBALL
The Sealy Tiger Cubs played a
tight game with the Columbus
Elementary team last Friday
night when they were defeated
14-12. Inexperienced, and in a
gym for the first time, the Cubs
made a great showing. Luther
Turner was high man with 9
points while Elwood Williamson
came in second with 3. With a
little more experience, the Cubs
should deal someone a lot of mis-
ery on the planks this season. Be-
cause of the size of the squad,
only ten men were taken to the
Columbus bout.
Coach Props wishes to express
his sincere appreciation to stu-
dents and parents for the coop-
eration and interest that have
been shown.
BASKETBALL
The Sealy quintet journeyed
to Brenham Tuesday night for a
practice game. The Tigers came
out on the short end of a score,
31-19.
Friday the quintet cruised to
Columbus for a night of excite-
ment. The Tigers played the game
of their lives. The game was a
thriller for the fans. The Tigers
took a four point lead in the last
four minutes. The Cardinals came
back and made six points in what
was supposed to be half a min-
ute. The score, 23-22. Saturday
the quintet will journey to
Hempstead for a tournament.
SNAP, SNAP, SNAP!!!
If you like interesting sights,
you should have been at the high
school Friday. Pictures were tak-
en all day long. The seniors had
their pictures taken in their caps
and gowns. You should have seen
them! They were comical sights.
Other pictures were taken of
the football team, basketball
team, pep squad, press club,
homemaking classes, class favor-
ites and some re-takes of the in-
dividual pictures taken some
weeks ago.
Our photographer was plenty
busy during the entire morning.
To top this off, several of the
students brought cameras and
