PUBLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Dick Luebke wants to remind all persons wishing to publish an
article in the Proceedings based on their paper presented at the
meeting to bring three copies of the final product to the meeting.
Also, persons wishing to publish only an abstract of their presented
paper should bring a revised (updated, finalized, etc) abstract to the
meeting.
NOMINATIONS FOR AWARDS
Nominations are still being accepted for Outstanding Fisheries
Worker of the year. There are five categories of awards: culture,
management, research, education, special (member or non-member).
All nominees must be members in-good-standing of the chapter
except in the special category. A nominee can receive only one award
each year, but a nominee may have previously won an award.
Send nominations to Tom Linton (Dept. Wildlife and Fisheries
Sciences, Texas A&M, College Station, 77843).
MEMBERSHIP BROCHURES
The new brochures are available and will be distributed at the
meeting. For a sneak preview, contact Glen Cordova (P.O.B. 8,

NEXT NEWSLETTER
The next newsletter will be prepared in November. Anyone wishing
to have something included in the newsletter, please send to Joe
Tomasso (Aquatic Station, SWTSU,t San Marcos, TX 78666) by November 1.
MEETING INFO
The 1984 annual meeting of the Texas Chapter of the American
Fisheries Society will be held September 14-15 at7 the U.T. Marine
Science Institute in Port Aransas. The panel discussion will be on
Freshwater Inflow with Dr. Ed. Klima of NMFS in Galveston as moderator.
Mr. John Specht of the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority will representinland water users, Gary Powell of the Texas Department of Water
Resources will present his department's research programs and approach
to the problem, and Dr. Jeff Matthews of the U.S.F.W.S. in Galveston
will present the coastal ecologist's point of view.
The Friday night social will be held outside by the beach if the
weather is good or at the old Port Aransas community center if it
rains. The Texas Shrimp Association has graciously agreed to donate
shrimp for Phil Durocher's famous cajun shrimp and potato boil and of
course plenty of beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
