Candidates should be nominated by university
representatives from upperclass undergraduate students. Only one
nominee should be selected each year from each school. Awards
will be made on the basis of academic excellence, professional
activities, and promise for future involvement in and
contribution to fisheries science.
Nominees must file an application to be forwarded to the
Scholarship Selection Committee. This application should include
the following data:
1. General Information
Name
Classification
GPA (overall and in major)
Expected Graduation Date
2. Work experience (beginning with college-level study)
3. Honors, fellowships, and scholarships received.
4. Professional, scientific, and honor society activities.
(Describe ways in which you have exhibited leadership
potential)
5, Statement of career goals.
6. Reasons for pursuing a career in fisheries science. Include
personal philosophy of natural resource conservation.
Minutes for the 1989 Annual Meeting,
The meeting was called to order at 12:05PM. President
McCune recognized Paul Brouha from AFS headquarters in Bethesda,
Maryland. He also recognized pasts- presidents in attendance:
Dick Luebke, Jim Davis, Bobby Whiteside, Don Steinbach, Maury
Osborn, and Brian Murphy.
Minutes from the 1988 Business Meeting were presented by
Secretary/Treasurer Gene McCarty. Motion to accept the minuteswas made by Bruce Hysmith and seconded by Clell Guest.- The
Motion car r ie d.
President McCune addressed the assembled members and
summarized the accomplishments of the past year. These included
increasing the visibility of the Texas Chapter, and taking a
stance against the the dredging of Galveston Bay and Wallisville
Reservoir. Mac indicated that he was proud of the establ shmets
of an endowment fund to support fisher ies students. He also
called ,attention to the fact that the American Fisheries Society
Award for Excellence in the the field of fisheries for 1989 was
awarded to Dr. Clark Hubbs of the Texas Chapter.
