TCAFS has been an important part of my life since 1998, when I attended my first conference at the TF
Athens. Since that meeting, I have always looked forward to attending TCAFS and being part of the
membership. I am truly excited to serve as President-Elect!
Our chapter has an unique culture that supports the growth and development of our student members a
as professionals. We are dedicated to helping the next generation be successful contributors to the fiel
fisheries science. Our chapter is a forward-looking organization that is always looking for ways to imprc
meetings, presentations, collaboration and fisheries science.
With those thoughts in mind, I am reminded of ic
forth by Past-President Rick Ott in which he obs
that fisheries science is no longer an isolated fie
study but encompasses a broad range of discipl
including engineering and hydrology. He sugges
we should consider marketing our chapter and
conference beyond scientists and regulators to i
anglers, river authorities, water districts and any
4 individual or entity interested in clean water. I be
that he is right. Our population is rapidly growin
while our available water resources are diminish
How will we meet the future water demands of ti
population, agriculture, and industry without han
the ecology of water bodies? I would like the cl
to consider this idea as the theme of our annual
meeting.
