: COLORADO CITY, Oct. 5.—
(Spl)—Funeral for Luther Frank-
lin Copeland, 49, who died unex-
pectedly a this farm home near

ning, was held at Newport Okla.,
at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon.
The body was carried overland
in a Kiker & Son ambulance
Mr. Copeland had worked in the
field most of the day Monday but
had come in late in the afternoon,
complaining of feeling ill. In a short
time he was dead The Copelands
lived about 10 miles southeast of
town.
Born March 6, 1890 in Green-
wood, Texas, Mr Copeland worked
for years in the oil fields of Okla-
homa He was married at Newport
to Nora Taylor, who survives him
in addition to two children, Arthur
18 and Naomi. 16.
MRS. FRANK AGEE
ANSON, Oct 5.—Funeral serv-
ices were to be held at the Funston
Baptist church this afternoon for
Mrs. Frank Agee, who died early
Wednesday in a Stamford hospital
Wife of a prominent young Jones
county farmer, she also is survived
by an infant son; her parents, Mr.
and Mrs R C McCarroll of Little-
field; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Knowles
and Bernardine McCarroll, also of
Littlefield; and three brothers. J. C.
McCarroll of Stamford and R C
and Cecil McCarroll, of Littlefield.

BAIRD. Oct 5.— (HW)— Mary Jo,
infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. this city.
J. B Misenheimer, was buried
Tuesday in Ross’cemetery with Rev
Hamilton Wright, Methodist pas-
tor, officiating. Misenheimer is
superintendent of the Ootane refin-
ery east of town. Wylie funeral
home was in charge of the funeral

BIG SPRING Oct 5.— (Spl)-
Alderman came to Big Spring in
1910 to investigate possibility of In-
stalling a water system. Given a
franchise, he developed a water,
woriu which he sold to the munici-
pality for $50,005. Alderman also
installed the first telephone system
Big Spring ever had in addition to
operating several other exchanges in
this area He sold that to South-
western Bell in 1919.
Word has been received here of the
death in McConnelsville, Ohio, of C MRS. N. G SMITH

neral for Mrs. Minta V Smith, 72,
resident of Coleman county since
1889, was held at 3 o'clock Wednes-
day afternoon at Glen Cove Burial

a member of the Church of Christ
She and N. G Smith were married
at Rio Vista, April 15, 1888
Survivors include, her husband;
four sons, C. L. Smith, Coughran,
Tex ; N. D. Smith, Glen Cove; Ray-
mond Smith, Kermit, and Theo
Smith of Glen Gove; and five
daughters, Mrs Will Futrell, Glen
Cove; Mrs A M Duncan, Abilene;
Mrs Dewey Collins, Coleman; Mrs
Fred Mapes, Ballinger: and Mrs.
W A. White, Glen Cove

COLEMAN Oct 5— (Spl.)—Fu-
neral for Richard (Dick) Thate, 64,
native of Germany but a resident
of Coleman county since 1892 was
held at 3 o'clock Wednesday after-
noon at Burkett with Rev. Mr.
Farmer of Burkett officiating. Bu-
rial was in the 'Burkett cemetery.
Richard Thate was born in Ger-
many on Nov 24, 1875. A stock
farmer, Mr. Thate was well known
in the northern part of the county
and was a member of the Lutheran
church.
At the beginning of the Civil
war cotton contributed 57 per cent
of United States exports.
