the moving out last night of the 18
miles of ice gorges that had threat-
ened this eity and other Upper Alle-

or Nature was to be credited th“ir
deliverance.
Those who had advocated the use
of thermite and dynamite in dislodg-

ment as a vindication of their claims
while others declared the movement
due to recent rainfall and said the ice
would have moved even had thermite
and dynamite not been used.

NOGALES Mexico March 24.—
With a capitalization of $25000000
the National Agrarian Bank of Mex-
ico is now open for business accord-
ing to official advices from Mexico
City today.
The Agrarian Bank is patterned
aftter the Farm Loan Banks of the
United States and is primarily in-
tended to aid the small farmers who
have received grants of land uuucr
the agrarian laws. Farmers who re-
ceive this monetary aid will not have
to mortgage their lands this being
impossible under the agrarian laws
which actually gave birth to the bank.
The money loaned to them will be
subject to a small rate of interest
however and will be secured by their
crops and equipment.
Large quantities of farming sup-
plies and machinery have ben order-
ed by the . government through the
bank and it is estimated that the
United States will benefit enormously
in trade therefrom. The various
states of the republic have subscribed
varying amounts to the Farm Loan
Bank and the assistance rendered the
farmers will be prorated therefrom.
