mothers of the couple presented
their children with a lit taper, from
which they jointly lit the unity
candle.
Family pews were marked with
aisle candelabras decorated with
foliage and satin bows.

Curry, Mrs. Kent Edwards, Miss
Debbie Winslow, all of Donna and
Miss Belinda Obst of San Marcos.

The wonder of Christmas is giving --

Little Marissa Kara Billings of
Austin, cousin of the bride, was
flower girl. She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Billings. She
wore a gown of candlelight satin
with teal detailing styled similarly
to that of the bridesmaids. Her
headpiece was a silk floral wreath
with teal satin streamers and she
carried a teal straw basket trimmed
with ivory baby’s breath.
Eugene Sepulveda of Austin,
college classmate of the bride-
groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Mark Mattern,
Gary Dirks, brother of the bride,
Ruben Flores and Brad Burnie.
Ushers were Matthew Dirks,
brother of the bride, of Lewisville,
Matt Naut of Norman, and Will
Wiggins of Houston, brother of the
bridegroom.
For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Dirks chose a deep teal gown
with beading around the surplice
neckline and a belt of sequined and
beaded design.
The bridegroom’s mother selec-
ted a gown of floral print with
accents of gold metallic woven in
the fabric.
Both wore corsages of candle-
light silk gardenias with tiny peach
baby roses.
Weslaco, Mrs. Dick Marshall was
hostess for a miscellaneous shower
and was assisted by Mrs. Bobby
Brown, Mrs. Russel Vos, Mrs.
Larry Smith, Mrs. Robert Veach
and Mrs. Henry Borgfeld; , a
personal shower in the home of 1
Mrs. Truman Angel of Alamo with
Mrs. Willis Ontjes, Miss Curry,
Miss Obst, Mrs. Edwards, Miss
Yvonne Adame, Miss Terri Alvarez
and Miss Winslow; a rice bag party
at the home of Miss Winslow. The
bridesmaids luncheon was given by
Mrs. Earl Weber and daughter,
Leslie, of Harlingen.
Mr. and Mrs. Wiggins hosted
the rehearsal dinner at the Lost
Trawler in Weslaco.
Special guests of honor at the
Houston, uncle of the bridegroom;
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Billings of
Austin, aunt and uncle of the bride;
Keith Billings of Houston, uncle of
the bride; Mrs. Dolores Fernandez
and Mrs. Sandy Gaston of Austin;
and Mr. and Mrs. John Ray of
Kingsville.

Ebanos Study Club, which took
place in the home of Mrs. James
Lauderdale.
: Following a brief business
meeting, Mrs. Woody Tullis,
program chairman, introduced Mrs.
T. A. Rowe, who presented the
program, in which those present
offered recollections of their most
memorable Christmases.
Mrs. Barr Ewing played the role
of Santa Claus, distributing gifts
that had been brought by members
for one another. Each member also
brought a present for patients at
the Harlingen State Center for
Mental Health and Mental Retarda-
tion.
Mrs. Lauderdale served punch
and dessert to the 24 members and
one guest present.
