GENEROSITY MEANT TO BOOST READING — Connie Alejandro-
Gonzalez, local businesswoman and wife of school Trustee Juan
Gonzalez, is a one-woman booster club for the Accelerated Reader
Program at Travis Elementary. To start with, she’s been running
advertisements saluting the outstanding “Reader of the Week” on the
campus. And if that were not enough, she’s now made a $200
contribution to the program, to be used for purchasing incentives and
rewards to encourage reading among the third and fourth graders.
Mrs. Gonzalez and her daughter, third grader Alexandria, made the
presentation of the donation to Principal Elia Pequeno, at left, and
Librarian Elida Martinez, right. It should be noted that Alexandria was.”
a “Reader of the Week” in October. (Enterprise Photo.) "

Could we with ink the oceans
fill.
And were the skies of parch-
ment made,
Were every stalk on earth a
quill,
And every man a scribe by
trade—
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the
whole,
Though stretched from sky to
sky.
