Safety Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
in this everlasting light
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever.
Safely home in Heaven at last
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on.
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows.
Pray to trust our Father’s Will.
There is work still waiting for you.
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
In deepest gratitude...
We would like to express our most heartfelt appreciation to
all our friends and family members who accompanied us in
our time of sorrow over the loss of our beloved
JESSE TREVINO
Your food, flowers, prayers, kind words and other thoughtful
acts helped to alleviate our very great burden.
May God bless you all.

parking lot. Every participant is asked
to secure sponsors to pay either on a
per-mile basis or as a straight dona-
tion.
A prize will be awarded to the
church with the most participants, and
one will be given to the person raising
the most money.
Every participant is to register with
his or her pastor, who will in turn
register all participating members be-
fore the event takes place, Rev. Buenfil
says.
“Participating churches may want
to identify their group by wearing like-
colored clothing, or with signs or ban-
ners,” the pastor says. “We’ll invite
television stations and newspapers to
cover the event.”
Proceeds from the event — a pre-
liminary goal of $1000 has been set—
will go to the BasketsFull Food Pan-
try, which assists local people with
emergency food supplies.
“The ministerial Association is
very hopeful that the community will
respond to this call,” Rev. Buenfil con-
cludes, “since it is a very visible way
to practice the sense of brotherhood
that we preach, and it will provide
significant assistance to the food pan-
try.”
Questions can be addressed to
church pastors or to Rev. Buenfil.

ary 28, at the church, located at 341 S.

Leadel
in Fighting to Keep our Children
I Safe from Drugs
by example
J.D. Salinas believes leadership is about what we do with
our lives. It's leadership by example. As Project Director
of the Hidalgo County Street Level Drug interdiction Unit
and the Hidalgo County Drug Impact Court, and as a
municipal judge in the City of La Joya, J.D. helped lead the
fight to rid our schools of drugs.
Making Government
Work for Us
As Regional Representative to State Comptroller John Sharp, -
J.D. Salinas has helped make government leaner and more
efficient by facilitating the Texas Performance Review audits :
that have saved taxpayers billions of dollars. To J.D., rein- 3
venting government — looking for ways to do the same job i
faster, better and cheaper — is an everyday responsibility.
Helping Victims of
Domestic Violence
J.D. Salinas wants to use the County Clerk’s office to
establish a fund to help women who believe they have no
where else to turn. By offering them a chance to stand on
their own. hopefully more women will report domestic
violence crimes to protect themselves and their children.

J.D. Says “ND”
to the County Pay Raise
At a time when unemployment in Hidalgo County is over
20%, J.D. Salinas believes this is no time for politicians to
give themselves a pay raise. He’s taken some heat for
publicly announcing that he would reject the pay raise,
but to J.D., it’s all about leadership by example.
