the benefit of others as well.

ID BADGES COME TO MHS — The traditional student :
identification card is being replaced this year at Mercedes High
School by ID badges, to be worn mandatorily by staff members
and optionally by students. The badge will serve the function of
the card of past years, allowing library privileges and cafeteria
service, as well as providing photo identification of students,
says School Principal Mauro Vasquez, Jr., shown above with
staff member Gail Brandt, who is in charge of the badge project.
The student’s first badge is free, but lost ones, which must be
replaced, will cost a nominal fee. Additionally, visitors to the
school must check in at the front office to obtain a visitor’s pass.
