Without our dedicated T-Patchers who seek, search and
sign-up the NEW, RENEWALS and DROP OUTS, we could not
have a vibrant organization like we now enjoy.
The Unit Vice Presidents are the real heroes, plus a bevy of
our loyalist members, and together they broke the FOUR
THOUSAND paid members barrier...a goal we've had for the

Disabled veterans group
elects Kirby to top post
Billy E. Kirby, a combat-disabled
World War II veteran, has been elect-
ed to a one-year term as the nation-
al commander of Disabled American
Veterans during its convention this
week in Dallas.
He is a member of Company K,
143rd Infantry Regiment, 36th Divi-
sion and Texas National Guard.
DAV Life Member Since 1946,
Kirby Was Wounded at Rapido
Discharged from military service in
1946, the former staff sergeant
joined the DAV as a life member of
Chapter 32 in Dallas.
Shortly after leaving the Army, Kir-
by attended the American University
in Washington, D.C., to study in the
DAV National Service Officer training
program. He worked as a NSO in
Dallas and Waco until 1962, when
he joined the staff of the U.S. House
of Representatives Committee on
Veterans' Affairs.I
Billy Kirby ... new com-
mander of the million-mem-
ber Disabled American Vet-
erans organization.Following his 1977 retirement
from the committee staff, Kirby
moved to Clifton. He tas served on
various DAV committees and in sev-
eral positions with the organization.
Kirby and his wife, Emelyncq,
have two children and four grandchil-
dren.
