Interview With Major Jutes A. Handall
of the City of Monterey.
Learning that Major Jules A. Itandall

Major Handall was on his way hack I

Hot Springs slluated In the suburbs of
.Monterey and furnishing all the modern
convenience! and comforts to those who
might visit the excellent hot mineral
springs for thelrhenlth and at thu same
time advertise their advantages over thu
civilized world In nnswer to the ques-
tion as to the claim or that city lor a
health resort he satd :
Monterey Is Improving and Is des-
tined to be the grandest health resort In
the world. Her climate Is iinrurpassid
and shu has the llnest mineral springs on
this continent. The springs are being
handsomely Improved a nlcu hotel will

ate comfortable manner and they can be
cured nf their Intirmltles nt the celebra-
ted Hot Springs.
The htreet Hallway from Monterey
will be extended to the Springs ami will
lie closely connected.
"How about the revolution and the
reported political disorders In that sec-
tion?" The so-called revolution at Monterey
was more newspapersensatlon thanany-
thing ebe. The battles were principally
fought by the quill drlvers.most of whom
belong to the Jim-crow class. All Is
quiet and the American Interest was
not Interfered with at all.
I am not Interested la politics In Mex-
ico. If 1 had much time or money to
spend In that line would (o so In my
own country urging our administration
to employ men or the Democrallo per-
million to llll tho olilces of the Uovern-

The Majnrthea said that If San Anto-

as to her advantages and Improve her
lioiel facilities that a large number of
persons who now come here for a winter
residence would continue their Journey
ou to Monterey where It was the purposo
to give them full return for their money

his schrm. to establish a continental
health resort at Monterey carrying his
visitors right through San Antonio re-
