ous incident:
A poor man read that an
elephant could not jump off
the ground with all four feet
at the same time So he bo/ight
an elephant
Then he put up a tent and a
sign offering $5,000 to any who
could make the elephant jump
off the ground with all four
feet He charged $1 to get into)
the tent, and really started,
making money
One day a little man came in
the tent carrying a stool and a
pair of pliers. He put the stool
behind the elephant, got on it
and pinched the dickens out of
the elephant’s tail with the
pliers. The elephant jumped off
the ground with all four feet at
the same time.
So the man had to pay the

The finishing touches are being made on the new Giddings
Elementary School, located in the Sunrise Addition, and will be
ready for grade school students this fall. As this building pro-
ject comes to an end, the administrative office at the high school
is being moved to a new location.

In Car Accident
AUSTIN — Five Giddings
teenagers were injured in a
three-car collision Monday nite
which pinned two girls in the
back seat.
Two Giddings girls, Peggy
Maxey and Linda Barrett, 18.
were hospitalized, along with
a50-vear-old Austin woman.
The accident occurred about
8:30 p m at 12th Street and
West Avenue. Driving the car
