NEWS IN BRIEF
HOUSTON HAY SHOW
TUESDAY, JULY 30
The Houston Hay Show is an
educational enterprise to set up
guidelines for the production of
quality hay, and to provide for
prospective purchasers of hay a
means to determine those char-
acteristics which may serve as
indicators of a quality product.
This is to be accomplished by
competition within various clas-
ses of hay and by educational
discussions of merits of the en-
tries.
An exhibitor may be anyone
who is in possession of hay at
the time of the show, whether
he be a hay producer, or hay
purchaser. An entry must be in
a block 4 inches thick tied with
string. An exhibitor will be
limited to one entry in each

MANHEIM SENIOR 4-H
CLUB HAS MEETING
The first summer meeting of
the Manheim Sr. 4-H Club was
held on June 14 Before the
business meeting everyone en-
joyed a number of games plan-
ned by Sharon Biebas and con-
ducted by Allen Birnbaum.
Allen Birnbaum opened the
meeting with the 4-H Pledge
and Prayer. Since the secretary
was not present, Marilyn Heint-
ze read the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting. The minutes
were then approved.
Mr. Spivey then informed us
about entomology. He also ask-
ed who would be interested in
it. Since a number of us were
interested, he told us we should
be thinking about an adult
leader and a junior leader.
Wayne Woelfel and Clifford
Saegert reported on the Junior
Leadership Lab which they at-
tended in Seguin. Two other
members of our 4-H Club,
Caroyn and Sharon Biebas, at-
tended the Junior Leadership
Lab. One of our adult leaders,
Mrs. Milton Woelfel, also at-
tended this Lab. After the
meeting we enjoyed two films
entitled "Come to Texas" and
"Turn the Wheels West".
