spent Thanksgiving Day with
Mrs. Emma Pampell,
Thanksgiving guests in the home
of Ms. Mary Valigura and Adolph
were Mr. and MB. Alvin Waligura
and family of Rockdale, Mr.
and Mb. Lewis Krenek, and Mr.
and Mb. Joe Valigura. Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Valigura and boys
of Conroe were here for the week
end.
Mb. Alberta Kasper had Thanks-
giving dinner with Mr. and Mb.
Ervin Grundman of Giddings.
Weekend visitors in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Dalvin Spacek,
Mr. and Mis, Walter Dube and
Mr. Alvin Dube were Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Kanak of San Antonio.
Spending the Thanksgiving
week with Mb. Estelle Hibler
were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hib-
ler and family of Houston and
Mr. and Mb. Gilbert Wiederhold
of Bryan.
Mrs. Fritzie Klagman had
Thanksgiving dinner with Mr.
and Ms. M. C. Spitzenberger,
Their son, Raymond, of Whar-
ton, was also present.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hatfield
and family of Baytown and Mr.
and MB. John Mikulin and family
and Mr. and Mb. Joe Mikulin,
Jr., all had dinner with their
mother, Ms. Albina Mikulin,
on Thanksgiving Day.
HAD FALL
We are sorry to say MB. Arnold
Hannes had the misfortune to fall
and crack her knee cap. Her
leg is in a cast, but we do hope
that she is well on the mend and
will soon be able to take the
cast off.
Weekend visitoB of Mb. Ar-
thur Hannes were her daughter,
Mr. and Mb. Randall York of
Houston.
Mr. Edward Leitko and chil-
dren of Ohio spent several days
in Dime Box visiting her mother,
Mrs. Esther Leitko and other
relatives.
Mr. and MB. Charles Meyer
of Houston visited with Mr. and
Mb. Edd Riske and Mr. and
Mb. Charlie Meyer, Sr., over
the weekend. On Friday, Mrs.
Meyer took her mother, Mb.
Riske, to Austin to consult her
doctor.
Mr. and Mrs. Olan Mahlman
and family of Kerrville spent the
Thanksgiving weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Zschech and Larry.
Mr. and MB. Lummus Hannes
and son of La Grange spent the
weekend with Mr. and MB.
Arnold Hannes.
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Markert
and family of Houston were week-
end visitoB of his parents, Mr.
and Mb. Ben Markert.
Mr. and Ms. Dick Sekell of
Houston spent Thanksgiving
weekend at their home in Dime
Box.
Weekend guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Asa Moses were Mr. and
Ms. James Kyle and Keith of
Orange and Mr. and Mrs. George
Owens of Port Arthur
Mrs. Willie Standifer of Clif-
ton and Mrs. Clara Attaway of
Dime Box traveled to Rosen-
burg Wednesday where they
spent several days with their
sisters, Miss Ruth Reat and
Ms. Nan Stith.
Mr. and Ms. Joe Milburn
went to see their little grand-
son, Jim Bob Hoffman at Cedar
Creek Friday evening and found
him doing better after having
been quite ill.
Visiting the Elder Burttschells
Sunday were; Mr. and MB.
Jim Brinkman, Michelle and
Kelly of Deanville, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Ondrasek and La-
mar of Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Burttschell and David of
Giddings, and also Mr. and
MB. Ray Markert and family
of Austin.
Quite a number of Dime Box
residents attended the dedication
of St. John Lutheran Church,
Paige, Texas, Sunday.
Mr. and MB. A. C. Harzke
spent Friday and Saturday with
Mr. and MB. Jack Harzke and
Chuck of Austin.
Sharing Thanksgiving dinner
with the Woodrow Dismukes
family were Mr. and Mb.
Carroll Madesett and Dannette
of Austin. On Sunday Danny
Crow visited his buddy, Duke
Dismukes.

were hosts to the following on
Thanksgiving Day: Mr. and
Ms. Bill Urbanovsky, Mr. and

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, the
Giddings F.F.A. Chapter traveled
to Bryan for District I leadership
contests. Schools from all over
District I attended the contest.
The Senior Chapter Conducting
team demonstrated parliamentary
procedure. This team placed 3rd.
Members were Raymond Kipp,
Clifford Wagnet, Dennis Seeman,
Henry Seeman, Eugene Namken,
Gary Mueller, Kenneth Foerster,
Virgil Birnbaum and Elton Schauts-
chick.
The Greenhand Chapter Conduc-
ting team also demonstrated parlia-

The Dime Box community was
indeed saddened at the news of
the death of James Ovcarik as
a result of an automobile
accident. James and his wife
were making their home in
Big Springs. He was the only
child of Mr. and Mb. Alex
Ovcarik of Dime Box.
Mr. and MB. Walter Dube
and Becky spent Thanksgiving
in Kingsland with Mr. and MB.
Bobby Narred and family. On
hand to meet them there was
their son, Airman 2nd Class
Bobby Dube and his wife, and
Robin of Amarillo A.B., and
also Mr. and Mb. Jack Dube of
Giddings and Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Mikulin of Houston. The
Dubes enjoyed having all their
children celebrate Thanksgiving
together. Adding to the plea-
sure was the deer hunt. Bobby
was fortunate enough to bag
two deer while Peggy got a big
buck.

The Senior Farm Skill team de-
monstrated hard surfacing, brasing,
and the thawing of frozen water
pipes. This team places 2nd, Mem-
beB were Glenn Wachsmann, Al-
lan Urban and Wilbert Birnbaum.
Alternates were Gerhard Proske,
Curtis Schimank, James Schimank,
Gary Jenke, Larry Woelfel, James
Becker, Ronald Oltmann and John
Schausch.
The Greenhand Farm Skill team
demonstrates soil testing. This
team placed 4th. Members were
James Kalbas, Thomas Fischer,
Otis Proske and Douglas Watson.
Pete Martinez was an alternate.
The Radio team read a script.
This team placed 6th. Members
were Delbert Wachsmann, John
Bigon and Cornell Kunkel. Alter-
nates were Dennis Walch, Edwin
Schmidt, Leonard Borlack and Ro-
bert A Ibrecht.
The chapter was awarded the
Sweepstakes Banner for accumula-
ting more points than any other
school. This makes it two years in
a row that Giddings has won the
Sweepstakes Banner,
On Nov. 20, the Sr. Farm Skill
team went to Blinn College for Area
IIIleadership contests. This team
placed second again missing fiBt by
only a few points. There are 126
schools in Area III.
