Attending funeral services in
Rockdale Monday of last week
for George Blackmon were
Mr. and Mrs. Shiloh Rhodes,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown, Mrs.
Mort Gould, Mrs. Charlie
Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rod-
gers and Mb. Less Da venport.
We lia ve had a lot of sickness
in the community. In the
Richard Hospital in Rockdale
from here were Mb. Hugh
Rhodes, Miss Carol Brown,
daughter of Mr. and Mb. Jim
Brown and Sandy Brown, son of
Mr. and MB. Doss Brown. At
present they are home and
doing fine. Rodney Brown was
a bed patient at his home for
several days suffering from a
fall he received while deer
hunting.
Thanksgiving day and holidays
were busy times in the community.
Mr. and MB. Dick Hays had
their son and family, the Billy
Teague's and family of Houma,
La., their daughter, the Karl
Madsen's and family of Cle-
burne, their grandson, Kerry
Madsen from Methodist College,
Georgetown, also Karl's parents,
Mr. and MB. A. Madsen of
Cleburne.
Having Thanksgiving dinner
with Mr. and Mrs. Less Daven-
port and family were Mr. and
Ms, Jimmie Doss of Gay Hill
community.
Mr. and MB. Jack Phillips
and boys of Snyder spent the
holidays here at their farm.
Dick Hunt of Houston and
brother Don of New York and
Fount Simmons of Lexington
visited relatives and friends in
the community during the holi-
days.
Spending the holidays with
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rhodes were
Mr, and MB. Joe Rhodes, Mr.
and Mb. Dean Oldham and
family of Pasadena, Mr. and Mb.
Ike Rhodes and family, Mr. and
Mb. Jack Rhodes and Leslie of
Houston, Mb. Mike Felghny of
Austin. Other visitors were Dr.
F. L. Charlton, Mb. Emma
Freeman and Muriel, and also
the Gibsons of Fort Worth.
Mr. and MB. Robert Stanley
and John of Clute spent the
holidays here at their farm.
Visiting them were Mr. and
Mb. Skipper Stanley and family
of Austin, Mr. and MB. C. C.
Miles and family of Lockhart.
Mrs. Darwin Brown and chil-
dren spent Friday in Giddings
with relatives.
Visiting with Mr. and Mb.
Shiloh Rhodes, Chuck and Don
were the Robert Stanleys, Mr.
and MB. Claude Simpson of
Tanglewood, Dick and Don Hunt
and Fount Simmons. From Rock-
dale were Miss Emlie Morgan and
Charles Lolly, and also their
grand daughter and bubble, the
Chester Smiths of Houston had
visited them.
Mb. Emma Freeman and Mu-
riel had as their visitors, Mb.
Freeman’s niece, Mb. Mae
Tate, her daughter, and chil-
dren of Erving, Texas, Mrs.
Tracy Longmire of Rockdale,
Dick and Don Hunt, also the
Jack Phillips.
With Mt. and Mts. Mort
Gould were Mr. and Mrs. Cur-
tis Gould and Ricky of Rock-
dale, Mr. and Mrs. Bub Gould
and Bubba of San Marcos, and
Rob Gould.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rodgers
visited in Lexington Saturday
night with Mrs. George Black-
men.
John Holton of Bay City is
spending some time here at his
farm. Spending the weekend
here with John and Mr. and Mrs.
Lee Rodgers were Mr. and Mrs.
W H. Gibson of Fort Worth,
Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Welch and
family of Bay City, Mr. and
Mrs. Virgil Holton of Sweeney.
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Brown
and family spent the holidays
In Laredo with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Turner
celebrated Sunday with their
children. Being home from Hearne
were Mr. and Mrs. Bud Collie
and Daune, Mrs. Terry Collie
and daughter, from Bellville
were Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Al-
bert and children, Charlie's
aunt, Mrs. Ira Stanley of
Lexington and her daughter,
Mrs. Eula Mae Needham of Fort
Worth.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Brown and
girls had Thanksgiving dinner
with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Alex-
ander of Forest Grove.
The Rev. Earl Stewart of Waco
had lunch Sunday in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown.

Madgie Lee Sinks
Funeral for Miss Madgie Lee
Sinks, 85, a longtime resident
of Lee County, who died in
Lee Memorial Hospital, Tues-
day, November 22, was held
at 3 p. m. Wednesday, November
23, in the Phillips and Luckey
Chapel with Rev. Walter Buehrle
officiating. Burial was in the
Giddings City Cemetery.
Miss Sinks is survived by a
nephew, George Roberdeau,
of Austin.
Mrs. Hattie Lawrence
Funeral services for Mis,
Hattie Lawrence, 81, were
held Tuesday, November 29,
at 2:30 p. m. at Phillips
and Luckey Chapel with Rev.
J. A. Hosea officiating. Mb.
Lawrence died Monday in
an Austin hospital after a long
illness. Burial was in Dime
Box City Cemetery.
Mrs. Lawrence, whose husband
preceded her in death, is sur-
vived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary
Wilhite, Giddings; two sons,
Odais Lawrence, Giddings, and
Archie Lawrence of R:. 2,
Giddings; three sisters, Mb.
J. R. Ramsy, McAllen, MB.
Maggie Adair, Vernon, and
Mb. Louis Martin, Wichita
Falls; brother, Frank Wilson,
Eastland; six grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
Sunday in Tanglewood Baptist
Church, Dec. 4th, time: 2 till
4 o’clock.
Mrs. Martha Melcher
Funeral services for Mrs.
Martha Augusta Melcher, 76,
who died Tuesday, Nov. 29,
in an Elgin nursing home,
were held Thursday, Dec. 1,
at 10 a. m. at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church with Rev.
Emil Krugler officiating.
Burial was in the Giddings
Cemetery under direction of
Phillips and Luckey Funeral
Home.
Survivors include a son, Ro-
land Schneider, Houston; daugh-
ter, Mrs. Rufine Erlanson, Aus-
tin; four grnadchildren and eight
stepchildren.
Mrs. Paul Karisch
Funeral services for Mrs. Paul
Karlsch, 55, of Winchester,
were held Thursday, Dec. 1,
at 2:30 p. m. at St. Michael’s
Lutheran Church, Winchester,
with Rev. R. M. Frieling
officiating. Burial wax in the
church cemetery under direc-
tion of Phillips and Luckey
Funeral Home.
Mb. Karisch died Tuesday,
Nov. 29, in a La Grange hos-
pital.
Survivors include her husband;
two sons, Paul Karlsch, Jr.,
Houston, and Hilton Karisch,
Pasadena, three brothers,
Traugott Franke, Winchester,
Willie Franke, La Grange,
and Carl Franke, Pennsylvania;
and eight grandchildren.
