Texas Lutheran College Band To Present Concert

The Texas Lutheran College
Concert Band will present a
concert in Giddings as part of
its 1,500 mile 1967 tour.
The concert in Giddings will
be held at the Giddings High
School Gym on Friday, Jan.
20 starting at 7:30 p.m.
Each concert, planned to ap-
peal to the musical tastes of
many people, will include clas-
sical works, symphonic mas-
terpieces, folk music, concert
jazz, sacred numbers, mar-
ches, and selections from stage
musicals.

ists, clarinet ensemble and

Sixty students fromsixstates
are members of the 1966-67
band. Fifty selected students
comprise thetourningunit. Dir-
ecting the talented musical
group is veteran bandsman M.A.
Nyquist.
The concert is being sponsor-
ed by the Martin Luther Lutner-
an Church.
Texas Lutheran College, a
fully-accredited four-year
liberal arts school located in
Seguin, is owned and operated
by The American Lutheran
Church with support from the
Texas-Louisiana Synod of the
Lutheran Church in America.
It is in its 76th academic year—
19 years as a senior college.

Jobs As Seasonal
Assistants In
Postal Field
WASHINGTON, D. C. - The
Post Office Department and the
Civil Service Commission has
announced the opening of a
nation-wide examination for
students and others interested
in work as seasonal assistants
in the postal field service, Con-
gressman Jake Pickle said
today.
The jobs will pay $2.44 per
hour and will be located in a
limited number of larger post
offices. As in 1966, the great-
est number of jobs will be in
major post offices such as New
York, Chicago, Los Angeles,
San Francisco and Philadel-
phia.
Candidates who qualify in the
written test may be considered
for summer employment in 1967
and later to assist with the
Christmas mail, Pickle said.
The test will be given in
three cities in the 10th Dis-
trict. These include Austin, La
Grange and Hempstead. Ap-
plicants must apply between
January 10 and February 9 to
take the test, which will be
given on February 25 and
March 4.
