What is the Tire Inspection Plan? It is a com-
pulsory plan for the regular inspection of every
motorist's tires in the interest of rubber conser-
vation.
Who will inspect the tires? Inspections will be
made by Tire Inspectors authorized by the local
War, Price and Rationing Boards. They will be
the regular tire experts of service stations, gar-
ages and tire shops. They will be appointed by
- Jotal War, Price and Ration Boards as Author-
ized Inspection Stations. They will meet OPA
inspection standards in experience, equipment
ond reputation.
What vehicles will be inspected? Every passen- -
ger car, motorcycle and commercial vehicle in
the United States.
WHEN AND HOW OFTEN?
All Holders of "A" and Basic "D" (Motorcycles)
Ration Books: must have their first inspection by
March 31, 1943, and at intervals of six months
thereafter, with inspections at least 90 days
apart.
All Holders of "B" Ration Books: must have their
first inspection by February 28, 1943, and at in-
tervals of four months thereafter, with inspec-
tions at least 60 days apart.
All Holders of "C" Ration Books and Bulk Cou-
pon Holders: must have their first inspection by
February 28, 1943, and intervals of three months
thereafter, with inspections at least 45 days
apart. .
AH Commercial Vehicles Must Have Inspection
by February 28, 1943.
The above deadlines are the extensions an-
nounced by the 0. P. A. from Washington earlier
this week. This ruling was made to avoid con-
fusion and congestion.....you can help the
official tire inspection stations listed below by
having your tires inspected NOW.
What will the charge be? A Tire Inspector is
allowed to charge up to 25c for inspection of
passenger car if he doesn't have to remove any
tires, if he has to remove tires from wheel or rim
to give them more careful inspection, he can
charge up to 50c for each removed; if Inspec-
tor has to remove tire from commercial vehicles
for inspection, he may charge 75c for every small
truck tire removed, $1 for every large truck tire
removed and 50c additional for removing inside
dual truck tires.
What if repairs are necessary? After ex-
amining the tires, the Inspector will write on
your Tire Inspection Record the required service,
if any; he will NOT sign the Record until his
repair recommendations hove been carried out!
If he finds a recop job needed or a need for an-
other tire to replace a tire that can be repaired
or recapped, he will sign the Record and recom-
mend such action; the car owner then applies at
the Ration Board for the recap or replacement.
Where should the Tire Inspection Record be
kept? It must be kept in every car at all times.
It Locates Cuts, Breaks, Injuries . . . Tire
inspection catches small injuries to your
tires before they become dangerous and
beyond repair.

tion is an inexpensive constant check and * .
