BRADSHAW, Oct. 16.—(Spl.)-
Mrs Ross Sheppard has received
a letter from her husband, Ross
Sheppard, machinists mate first
class who is on the fleet flagship
in the Pacific, telling of the re-
joicing on V-J Day, and action near
Leyte.
Mate Sheppard had been aboard
the flagship of the Seventh fleet
for 4 year, and had participated
in five major invasions. At the
time of the surrender news, his
ship was in port for overhaul, and
the crew had been working 12 to
16 hour shifts.
