On November 6. 1940, in Wal-
burg, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo
Riske heard a noise on the roof.
What ever could it be? Such a

their questions were answered.
The commotion was only the stork
dropping a tiny baby boy into
their midst.
Curtis is 18 years old. 6'11” tall,
and has brown hair and blue
eyes. Barbecue chicken is his fav-
orite dish. Curtis’s hobby is col-
lecting jokes, and his favorite
sport is football. "This Could Go
on Forever” is his number one
song, and Ricky Nelson is his fav-
orite singer. His favorite movie I
star is Brigette Bardot and his
favorite TV program is "Maver-
ick.” Curtis likes the opposite
sex and dislikes crabbie people.
His ambition is to be a success in
life. His dreamboat has to have
a good personality and has to be
good looking.

awarded the Blue and Silver Ri-
band for Academic Excellence at
St. Petersburg, Florida.
Miss Waldine Schellberg of
Houston became the bride of Ken-
neth Ahlschlaeger '50 on Saturday,
January 31. 1959. at Zion Luth-
eran Church in Houston.
The engagement of Shirley
Christiansen '53 to Otis Marbur-
ger of Cocoa, Florida, was an-
nounced recently.
Rev. 'and Mrs. Paul Stengel,
(nee Gloria Behrends ‘50) are re-
joicing over the arrival of a baby
girl, Rebecca Lynn. Rebecca
was born on February 6, 1959.
Carolyn Bohot '56 and Pat Flinn
’56 are members of the North
Texas State College Concert Band.
The band is giving performances
in twelve different cities in Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Pietsch,
(nee Ruth Reinhardt, former stud-
ent of GHS) are the proud parents
of a healthy baby boy named
Kenneth Wayne. He was born on
January 16, 1959.
Wayne Hurst '58 is being sta-
tioned at Pearl Harbor for 2 years.
His wife Johanna, will join him as
soon as school is out.
George W. Black Jr. veteran
employee of the State Highway
Department and now employed in
the district office at Fort Worth •
has been assigned to Stephenville,
Texas as senior engineer.
Melvin Schulze, ’57 and Miss
Peggy Randolph were married on
Saturday, February 14, 1959, in the
Tarrytown Baptist Church in Aus-
tin. They will make their home
in Austin.

The Buffaloes became co-cham-
pions of District 20-AA by defeat-
ing the La Grange quintet, Febru-
ary 13, in Giddings, by a score of
60-42.
This win gave the district cham-
pionship to the Buffaloes for the

1941. She is the daughter of Mrs.
Ruth Pampell.

' With the Buffs leading until the
last four minutes of play, the fi-
nal score was in favor of the
Smithville Tigers last Thursday
night. They won the right to meet
Taylor in Bi-district. The game
was played at La Grange.
The final score was 41 to 38. The
Buffs led 22 to 18 at halftime and
led throughout the game. With
only four minutes to play the Ti-
gers went ahead by one point and
later increased their lead to three
points.
David Rhode and Hannush led
Smithville scores with 11 points
each.
The Buffs starters were all sen-
iors and played their last basket-
ball game for the Buffs. The start-
ers and their points for the game
were as follows: Deavers with
12; Zoch, 8; Hirsch, 7; Mustchink.
