Are there more boys than girls
at GHS? This question will be an-
sw/ered for you if you read the fol-
lowing article which is an excerpt
from a pamphlet entitled “The
Schneider Poles’ of 1961."
January 13, 1961—
I was asked to investigate the
sum total of the Freshman class.
To my surprise, I found the boys
numbering 47 and the girls, 20.
February 1, 1961—
After snooping among the Soph-
omore Class at GHS, I took a num-
ber poll and learned that the soph-
omores are about evenly balanced.
I found that there are 32 girls and
31 boys.
March 1, 1961—
After tracking down those bright
eyed juniors, my poll read thus:
junior boys, 41, and junior girls,
33.
March 22, 1961-
I just finished my last poll—that
of the seniors. There are 32 girls
and 26 boys in the Senior Class.
Now to answer the big question:
Yes, there are more boys in GHS
than there are girls—quite a few
more. There are 145 boys and
only 117 girls.
I might add, that even if the
boys are greater in number than
the girls, the girls can still out-
talk them.

CHARLES EUGENE KNOBLOCH
One of the senior boys at GHS
whose ambition is to have suc-
cess in life is no other than
Charles Knobloch. He leads an
active life in high school. He is
a member of the Giddings Future
Farmers of America, and he is on
The Traveler staff. He is also a
member of the Ebenezer Luther-
an Church of Manheim and is an
active member in its Young Peo-
ple’s Society.
When Charles was asked to tell
of his most most unforgettable
moment, he gave this very simple
reply: “When I passed civics.”
He also gave a statement con-
cerning good old GHS. This
statement was: “I hope this old
school building holds up ’till the
end of May.” Well, Charles, your
hopes will probably be fulfilled
because it surely will stand that
long and most likely much longer.
