On Saturday night the GIs and
CSO’s at the Dowling street USO
added a feather to their caps and
whopped up about the game room
spending a pleasant evening at the
Indian Pow-Wow Frolic.
. .The game room was attractively,
decorated for the occasion. In the
background was a Tepee and an ar-
tificial fire, and on the wall were
arrows, tomahawks, and Indian pic-
tures.
chrysanthemums and formosa fern
formed the centerpiece for the
Quaker lace covered table. Seasonal
flowers and potted plants were
placed at vantage places throughout
the home. An inspirational program
was rendered.
Among those on program were

M. D. Grant, Mrs. M. E. Truscott,

Married Ladies
The Married Ladies Social,- Art
and Charity club met at the home
of Mrs. C. W. Hicks, 1118 Court
street, last Monday evening, with
Mrs. Ruby Johnson acting as hos-
ters. Meeting was opened by the
president, Mrs. C. N. Love, and de-
vetions were given by Mrs. M. A.
Puice, Music was furnished by Mrs.
Walter Smith. Christmas entertain-
ment and Christmas cheer was
planned and voted on.
After the business session, the i
members went into the dining room
where a delicious luncheon was
served. The dining table was cen-
tered with a beautifully decorated
cake which had the words “Married 1
Lndin" written on it, a gift to the
hostess from her daughter, Mrs.
Hicks.
Assisting the hostess were Mrs.
Incks and the hostess’s grand- i
daughter, Betty. The next meeting |

The Smart Set Social club is
planning Christmas cheer for the
shut-ins at the Negro Hospital on
Christmas morning, with the pro-
vision of Christmas carols which
will be rendered by Washington HL *
school's a capella group, under the %
direction of Mrs. Claudia W. Hunt-
er, director of music at the schoot
The group has been given special
training in a capella singing for
the last twelve weeks. This group
has shown special talent for this
type of work.

of New York, will conduct the N.
A. A. C. P. campaign for the Dal-
las Branch around the 18th or 20th
of February. We are expecting great
remits under her leadership. De-

Robert B. Scott
Returns Home
Tech. Sgt. Robert B. Scott of
Chicago, Ill., has been honorably
discharged after serving 36 months
in Italy and France. Sgt. Scott
wears the ETO ribbon with seven
bronze battle stars, a good conduct
and distinguished unit badge.
He is the brother of Mrs. Cora
Mims, 3508 Napoleon, and Mrs.
Rosie Smith, 415 Robin. He was
entertained with many parties and
is now enroute to California, to
visit other relatives.
