noon, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Wallace
and Mrs. Robert Stewart entertain-
ed jointly with a party beginning
at 5:00, to observe four years of

on the air of a college auditorium.

Daughters of Elks, gave their
eighth annual formal dance at the
City auditorium Thursday evening
at 3 p.m. The Prairie View Uni-
versity Co-eds played for dancing
featuring their arrangements of
blues, swing and jump numbers.
Van Pell Evans, master of cere-
monies, presented to the hundreds
of dance lovers and guests, 150
members of the Daughters of Elks.
The Daughters wore white dresses
and each one wore a white flower
in her hair. Tables were placed
throughout the spacious auditorium
floor, and the dancers danced in
the center. The Prairie View Co-
ed’s orchestra accompanied the
Daughters of Elks in their club
song. “Auld Lang Syne.”
Tenor Sax Soloist Groovy
The Co-ed’s rhythms and groovy
numbers scored with the guests and
kept them clamoring. Will Henry
Bennett, director, featured “tiny”
Miss Cherry Crump, song stylist and
bundle of beauty. The band was
supplemented by four male stu-
dents. Miss Melva Wynn, 22 Gal-
veston. Texas, handled the tenor
and alto solos superbly. Miss Helen
Cole, 20, Denison, Texas, was feat-
