Ont White Man
With one exception. the murder
victims were full-blood Osage In-
dians, owners of oil deposit,
which made them rich. Hikewise,
with one exception, the “sudden-
death" victims were Indians.
—The only -white man whose
death is linked up with the mur- |

who was killed with his wife and
a servant girl when his home wax
dynamited in March, 1923. Offi- I

believe members of a murder
gang dynamited the home because
Fmith "knew too much."
Being a white man, Smith did
not share in the Indian opinion
that the numerous deaths were
from supernatural causes. Inves-

sister, Mrs. Anna Brown, in'May. ,

he moved into his home.
Fell From Train
The other white victim wax an

from a train just after receiving
the deathbed statement of a rich
Osage Indian who had died under
peculiar circumstances.
Numerew-allempta were made .
by state officials to run the mur-
derers down, but without avail.

sufficent to warrant a grand jury
investigation, it is said. but this
evidence has not yet been pre-

"It has appeared on the face of

General Sargent said.
A decision is expected in a few
