Why Southern Farmers Should Vote
Against Harrison.
Because he has favored tariff legisla-
tion which uas had a tendency to re-
duce the markets for agricultural pro-
ducts. Although there has been a
great abundance in this country and a
famine abroad the value of the agri-
cultural products exported in 1891
was $842751344 while in 1881 it was
$730394943 or nearly $100000000
more. Ou the other hand our ex-
ports of manufactures have nearly
doubled In that time so that a protec-
tive tariff such as Mr. Harrison favors
cuts down the profits of the farmers
and restricts their market. Because
he favors the infamous force bill.
For these and many other reasons
no Southern farmer can afford to vote
for Mr. IlarrisoL or nis -aider mate-
rialy indirectly” .Mr. Weaver.
The Appeal-Avalanche and Com-
mercial of Memphis are waging a bit-
ter war against each other.
Senator R. Q. .Mills will go to
Ohio next month to deliver a number
of tariff reform speeches. Mills is all

Dr. C. M. Taylor of Lincoln coun-
ty Ark. ran the quarantine gauntlet
a few days ago in returning from
Europe.
After considerable study a Con-
necticut scientist calculates that there
are 43000000 mosquito larw- to an
acre of swamp land.
Cleveland Hill and Tammany are
now all working in harmonious uni-
son. which insures New York to the
Democracy in November.
A regular political blizzard in
November will freeze up Harrison
and. his plutocratic party. Sam Jones
predicts this and he is considered
good authority.
Though somewhat divided the
regularly organized Democracy with
Gov. Hogg at the head will come out
victorious when election day rolls
around in Texas.
Will Miller county be represented
in the State Road Convention at Lit-
tle Rock on Oct. 20th? This is a
very important movement and we
trust this county will be represented
thereiu.
Elections come too often in Ark-
ansas—one State election every four
years is amply sufficient. A constitu-
tional convention could give us this
needed reform and make a Governor
ineligible for re-election.
BicycLE record is being lowered
too. Zimmerman the champion
made a mile the other day. on his
’cycle in a trifle over two minutes and
six seconds. It will soon be a con-
test between the bicycle and the
horse.
Texarkana and every other city in
tills our balmy Southern clime should
promptly purge itself of all uncleanli-
ness and filth. Even if there was no
danger from cholera this should be
done for these things also breed other
diseases.
Several days since at Sun Francis-
( “fever was reported aboard
Pendleton from
