The Cherokee strip will be opened
up about Sept. 1 st. Why not colo-
nize the negroes there?
The country should fill up on con-
fidence it has every thing else down
to a pod of red pepper—Ex.
Near Brenham Tex.lives a man
who is said to be 106 years old who
not only reads without glasses but
recently astonished the natives by
beating two young men in a foet
race.
The Warren News predicts that
Prof. Junius Jorden of Pine Bluff
and Judge Little of Gieenwood will
be candidates for Congress from this
District next year.—Fort Smith Ele-
vator.
Seventy-two per cent of the bath-
ing population of Hot Springs has
been bathing at the government's free
bath-house and the superintendent
has closed it to all except the actual-
ly indigent for whose benefit it was
built. __________
The remarkable fact is called to
mind in an article that will appear in
the September Forum on Confederate
Pensions that there are 400000 more
pensioners on the government pen-
sion-rolls than there ever were sol-
diers in the Confederate service.
If inventors go on making armor
plate more and more invulnerable and
guns which throw a projectile with
greater and greater velocity the time
may come when a cannon ball will
have to be made of something about
as hard as a diamond to stand the im-
pact and will cost nearly as much.
“News butchers” will have a bo-
nanza selling papers now and perhaps
during entire session of the present
Co"g 'BBIIB everybody will be exceed-
ingly anxious to see what Congress is
doing toward a settlement of the fi-
nancial trouble now agitating the
country from center to circumfer-
ence.
The attempt of England and the
monometalists of this country to
force the world to a gold standard
has aroused the states of South Amer-
ica to propose a commercial alliance
with the United States providing
that silver is retained in its money
base and that we open the free list
of imported goods in raw material.
Does Mr Cleveland get any dis-
tance ahead of the other good citizens
of the United States when he favors
the repeal of the Sherman act? We
think not. But how about Mr. Cleve-
land's opinion upon what is to takel
its place—arc we over to know?— 1
Hot Springs Graphic.
Question is out of ordermy broth-
er. Taking into consideration his
known antipathy to silver it is plain
he wants it demonitized practically. 1
by wanting no other legislation
except the repeal of the Sherman
law. lie wants nothing to take its
place.

FRUITS OF REPUBLICAN MIS-
RULE
The Louisville Courier-Journal
sums up the situation in the following
teiao but convincing form. It says:
Our whole lineal system is out of
order and back of it there is scarcely
a sound limb in the body politic. The
banks suffer from the loss of popular
confidence the people suffer from a
loss of banking credit. Very much
less disparity of n >uey values would
be enough to account for this to say
nothing about the decline of the sta
pies and the bursting es the booms
the floods iu the south and the debts
in the w< st. Everywhere unequal bur-
dens are imposed. A system of un-
just taxation feeding the few out ol
the toil of the many piled up dispro
portlonate wealth on the one hand
and widespread poverty on the othei
hand. The massess of workman are
no longer permitted to hew their own
wood and to draw their own water
but before they can do either they
most pay tribute to the protected
classes; while the myriad of farmers
who sow and reap in order that all
may live have everything they pro-
duce priced in a free-trade market
under the gold standard and every-
thing that they have to buy taxed to
the moon to insure profits to favored
do nestic enterprise. Thirty years es
Republican misrule tell the dreary
tale.
SIOO REWARD SIOO.
The readers of this paper will be
phased to learn that there is at least
ons dreaded disease that science has
be >n able to cure in all its stages and
th it is catarrh. Hall’s Catarrh Cure
is he only positive cure now known
to the medical fraternity. Catarrh
be ng a constitutional disease requires
a c onstitutional. Hall’s Catarrh Cure
is taken internally acting directly
tis on the blood and mucous surfaces
of the system thereby destroying the
so indation ot the disease and giving
th- patient strength by building up
th) constitution and assisting nature
in doing its work. The proprietors
have so much faith in its curative
pc wers that they offer ons hundred
de liars for any case that it fails to
cure. Send for list of testimonials.

A Complete Cure by HOOD’S
SARSAPARILLA.
This is from Mr. D. M. Jordan a re-
tired farmer and one of the most re-

•' Fourteen years ago I had an attack ol the
rravel and have since been troubled with my
Liver and Kidneys
gradually growing worie. Three years ago I
got down so low that I could scarcely walk.
I looked more like a corpse than a living being.
I had no appetite and for live weeks I use
nething but gruel. I was badly emaciated
end had no more color than a marble atalae.
Hood's Sarsaparilla was recommended and I
thought I would try It. Before 1 had finished
ths first bottle I noticed that I fcit'bcttor. suf-
fered less the inHiimmalioM ot ike blad-
der had subsided the color began to return to
lay face and I begun to feel huagry. After
I had taken three bottles 1 could eat anything
without hurting me. Why I got so hungry
> hat I had to eat 6 times a day. I have uow
fully recovered thanks to
