The Fordyce Enterprise says:
••Congressman C. R. Breckinridge
voted against llie income tax feature
of tlie new tariff bill in the ways and
means committee but a majority of
the committee made it a part of the
bill.
Tennessee has a bonded indebted
n'ssof something over 115000000.
The interest on this debt and the in-
terest on the state’s indebtedness to
her educational an I charitable insti-
tutions make a total of nearly 8522-
000 to be paid annually in addition t>
current expenses.
The Stuttgart Star one of the b-M
papers in the state speaks a vol
tune in a in the following few words:
Aspirants are fast trimming the
poles ready to knock the Senatoral
persimmon. But mind you the pole
that has a Berry on the end of it is
•ure to make things rattle.
Rev. Sam P. Jones the great Onor
gia revivali d has also entered the
field as a regular newspaper contribu
tor. The Memphis Commercial In-
made airsngements to receive arm
publish a letter from him weekly on
some timely t’>pic. We predict tha
these letters will prove rich rare an
racy.
Lot the Democrats in Congress
pass the tariff bill••repeal the federal
election laws and admit Arizona
New Mexico and Okla! onia. Then-
are important measures and the soon
er they become laws the better for
»he country! No effort to delay act
ion should be tolerated. The Demo
crats will have to bear all responsi-
bility and they sh mid act decisively.
i’be lynching of a colored boy at
Winchester 0. yesterday morning by
a mob of 400 men was an outrage
for which there was no possible excuse.
Tlie negro Ind committed an nn atro
ciouS double murder but he could
been convicted at.d legally executed.
Governor McKinley should offer a re-
ward for the apprehension of the
lynchers. Every one of them should be
tried J.or murder.
The esteemed Mr. Hornblower
seems to be a Jonah. His appoint-
ment is now for tlie. second time in
litpbo and Congress seems to have
forgotten all about It. in the mean
time there is a vacancy on the su-
preme bench which should be filled at
o ice. If llornblowcr isn't satisfai-
tory away with him. A man by any
other name would fill the bill but the
appointment of somebody should be
settled upon without further delay.—

An exchange says that every paper
in the state should publish the fact
that burnt corn is a sure cure for hog
cholera and adds: It was first dis
covered by burning a pile of corn be-
longing to a distillery in Peoria 111.
It was then thrown to the hogs and
eaten by them. Before that time a
number of them had been dying each
day with cholera but the disease im-
mediately disappeard. It is so sim-
ple a remedy’that it can be easily-
tried.
Just as might lie expected several

The reader of Illis paper will be
pleased to learn that there is at last
one dreaded disease that science has
been able to cure iu all its stages and
that is catarrh. Ball’s Catarrh Cure
is the only positive cure known to the
medical fraternity Catarrh being a
constitutional disease requires a con-
stitutional trestmeut. Ball’s Catarrh
Cure is taken internally acting direct-
ly upon the blood and mucous surfaces
of the system thereby di stroying the
foundation of the disease ami giving
the patient strength by building up
the constitution and assisting nature
in doing its work. The proprietors
have so much faith in its curative
powers that they offer one hundred
dollars for any case that it fails to
cure. Send for list of testimonials.
