$395,500 Is Okayed
For Cancer Hospital
HOUSTON, March 8 (UP)—An
appropriation of $395,500 has been
recommended by Congress for the
M D. Anderson hospital for can-
cer research, it was learned Satur-
day.
The funds are part of a $10,000,-
000 grant which the House Ap-
propriations Committee has rec-
ommended in the fight against
cancer
Dr R Lee Clark, director of
the Anderson Hospital, said the
National Cancer Institute makes
grants on a dollar for dollar basis
it would mean that the University
of Texas, of which the hospital is
a part, would have to spend an
additional $395,500 in order to re-
ceive the grant.
The money will probably be
spent for a school of cancer educa-
