was judged to be that in Mrs. Wal-

Blvd won the award for the most
beautifully decorated doorway, the
Ernest Grissoms, 1301 Legett Dr.,
won for the most beautifully dee-
crated living outdoor tree, and Mil-
dred Woody 9 Elm St., for the
most outstanding religious scene.

Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, Tex., erected this “West Texas Christmas Tree.”
It's a large tumbleweed, picked up off the end of the runway at the base, sprayed with sil-

City Detective Jack Lowe said
Monday police were still searching
for three men who were foiled in
an attempt to haul off a 350-pound
safe early Sunday.
Patrolmen C. R. Hopkins and
| Frank Holten, walking to their
I beau from, police headquarters,
were attracted by a loud auto en-
gine and screeching tires about
3:15 a.m.
The officers spotted three men
in the car leaving the side entrance

Near the edge of the street they
found the safe, on its top Police
said the safe robbers were appar-
ently frightened at sight of the pa-
trolmen and dropped the safe to
escape.

tained only $1.25 in cash but held
valuable papers.
A cash register in the office was
rifled of $2, police said, and the
burglars were evidently making off
with the sale after making an un-
successful attempt to budge the
safe door.
