Builds Birds' Homes
CHATTANOOGA, I* — G. C.
Dykes has a real housing project
in his beck yard here, all because
he killed some birds aa a hoy.
Seventy - eight couples make
their homes there and ell of the
families are named Martin. They
are the bird branch of the Martia
family.
The birds are all nesting in
gourde suspended from two poles
that Dykes put up after his con-
science started bothering him
years ago.
“When I was a kid, I killed quite
a few birds,” he says, “and for
the last 26 years I have tried to
make up for the birds I killed.
I have spent hundreds of dollars
on bird houses and boxes.”
