"I never think of myself aa be-

thoughts are things,” she told me
the other day.
"In planning a wardrobe I natur-
ally have to take into considera-
tion that I am not tall and elimi-
nate what detracts from height.”
Connie continued. “I can never
wear two-tone dresses or anything
which cuts me to half. However I
have a long waist so fortunately
I can wear colored belts, espec-
ially with full skirts.
"TV has been a great help in
pointing out what is good and bad
for me. I’ve discovered that a
skirt which has ruffles only at the
hemline gives an illusion of height,

WSCS was held at 2 a.m. to the
church. The group accepted the
resignation of Mrs. Charles Gal-
braith as secretary of literature
and publications and elected Mrs.
J. L. Carter to serve the unexpired
term.
General meeting began at 9:30
a.m. with Mrs. J. D. Hamilton pre-
siding. Mrs. J. A. Bell led in pray-
er and the group sang “There's a
Song in the Air," directed by
Mrs. J. C. Bowden and accompan-
ied by Mrs. Dallas Denison.
Mrs. Thomas G. Carter an-
nounced that jurisdiction recogni-
tion certificates were presented
the five WSCS circles and the Wes-
leyan Service Guild for their last
study on India, Pakistan and Cey-
lon. ’
The group gave its annual Christ-
mas donation, $25, to the Sun-
shine Nursery, took toys for the
church nursery and Christmas
packages for Abilene State Hospi-
tal. Meeting closed with the Lord's
Prayer, repeated in unison.
Next meeting will be Jan. 4 and

No Reason To Gaia
- “Do you have trouble maintain-
ing your weight’” I asked.
"I try to stay around 101 and it
really is no problem because I've
trained myselt not to overeat. If
we are honest that is the real rea-
son any of us gain weight.”
"If your normal weight is 130,
two pounds is not much to gain but
when you are as small as I am
two pounds is quite a bit percent-
age-wise, so whenever I tip the
scales at 104 I cut out all starches
and sweets and it isn't long before
I'm back to “normal.”
"You make it sound so easy,” I
said.
"I'm a great believer in mind
over matter so that when I have
to diet I take my mind off food.
You can be awfully hungry but if
you make yourself think of some-
thing else you can forget all about
your appetite.”
I complimented Connie on her
lovely, clear skin.
“That pleases me,” she said,
"because in my teens I had a bad
