“Grow the Cibolo” is the name
of the Cibolo Nature Center’s
capital campaign. That is exactly
what several very generous
donors have ensured with their
gifts toward the “Land Acquisi-
tion” fund. The lands adjacent to
the Cibolo Nature Center and
along the Cibolo Creek will
eventually be subject to develop-
ment.
It is our goal to protect and pre-
serve these lands for future gen-
erations and for the regions
water conservation.
The Kronkosky Foundation
has pledged $350,000 toward
the purchase of these lands. The
Foundation’s mission to “pro-
duce profound good” has been
demonstrated through this gen-
erous pledge.
The goal to improve the quali-
ty of life in four counties, in-
cluding Kendall, is to a great
benefit to this, and future gener-
ations.
The Kronkosky’s had a resi-
dence in Boerne and felt very
close to the natural beauty of the
Hill Country. The CNC intends
to honor them with the protec-
tion of legacy lands.
The Friends of the Cibolo
Wilderness are raising $ 3 mil-
lion for a three prong capital
campaign. At this time, half of
the goal has been reached.
Funds will provide for a new
11,000 sqare-foot educational
facility, acquisition of adjacent
lands and an endowment for the
educational program.
The Cibolo Nature Center will
celebrate its 15th anniversary in
2003. Since its inception the
CNC has grown to be a region-
al force in conservation educa-
tion. Thousands of children
visit the outdoor classroom
each year and visitors to the
CNC trails are estimated at
100,000 annually.
Other foundations contributing
toward land protection are Roy
and Ellen Quillin Foundation,
Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. and Helen
C. Kleberg Foundation, as well
as a very generous anonymous
