“It has been my observation that it
is not the hickory shirt man that it is
the hardest to collect from, but it is
the man who holds himself one de-
gree above the ‘one-gailus man.’ •
“An honest man does not get angry
when you present him with his ac-
count if it is done in the right way,
not does he get angry when it is
placed in the hands of sn attorney, it
you have demanded payment and as
refuses to pay. The man generally
who gets angry is the man who would
prefer beating his account in prefer-
ence to paying it.
"You make a mistake when you hold
your accounts too long before giving
them to an attorney for collection. No
man wants to be sued, though he be a
dead beat sad an attorney can get bet-
ter results than the individual owner
himself. You will keep your accounts
until they are about out of date and
then you run them in to your attorney
for collection and expect him to and
out where they live, though they have
been dead six months, and you have
not heard of them in twelve months. I
“Keep up with your debtors; go over
your books every nignt and see who •
should be written to the test day and
write him In regard to the account or
put it in the hands of four attorney,
and have him collect ft for you.
“We cuss the railroads, yet many or
them have a rule that their employes
must pay their debts or get out or
their service. This in a good rule they
have and the time to coming when it
will be the rule of all business men,"
