LURED TO MOUNTAIN HUNTING
Messrs. McAdams, father and son,
of Chicago, obtained hunting licenses
at $25 each from County Clerk H. D.
Bloys Tuesday to hunt in the Davis
Mountains. They said they were on
their way to Arizona and California
but were turned back to this country
from El Paso by the report of good
hunting here. They had Mac Sproul’s
number, so to speak, as an A-No.-One
bear and deer hunter, and sought him
out as their guide. The party went
into the mountains the same day.
The visitors were invited to at-
tend the Chamber of Commerce
luncheon and have bear and venison,
but they waved the invitation aside,
with their thanks.
“Why bother with a mere steak or
two,” said they, “when Mac Sproul is
going to show us bear to kill and we
can have all the bear meat we want?’
Which was considered sound logic.

BUYS LAND FOR HOME
George T. Bartlett, a retired army
officer who spent part of the summer
here at Mountainaire, has bought a
half-block of land beside the moun-
tain and across the street from the
R. C. Williams home. The vendor
was Judge J. W. Merrill. It is un-
derstood that Mr. Bartlett will build
a summer home.

BASKETBALL PLAYERS LOSE
Hard luck fell to the lot of the
Fort Davis high school basketball
team in a game Saturday with the
Sanderson high team, in that the
Mile-High boys lost by a score of 20
to 28. The boys hope to get another
game and retrieve themselves. The
players from here were Don Carlton,
Jim Espy, Preston Johnson, Edwin
and Forrest Barnett and Jack Du-
mas. They were accompanied by
Prof. John Prude. In the first half
the score stood at 18 to 12 for Davis.
In the third quarter the score was

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stewart
have sold their home here to Mr. and
Mrs. W. 0. Grubb. The plan of the
Stewarts is to build later on. They
have moved to the old James Stew-
art home on the hill. The Grubbs
moved the first of this week into
their new home.
IMPROVING LIMPIA ANNEX
