HDA Gives Chocolate Pie Recipe to
Pleasant Hill Club at All-Day Meet
PLEASANT HILL. Sept. 22. —
Pies were made and served by
home demonstration agent Loreta
Allen to the Pleasant Hill Club at
the community center when the
stub held an all day meeting.
Miss Allen used a hot water paa-
try recipe. Amount for one ple is
1 cup flour, h teaspoon salt, 1-3
cup shortening, % cup boiling wa-
ter. Add fat to water, and beat un-
til creamy and fluffy; add to dry
sifted ingredients mixing lightly.
A chocolate filling made by the
following recipe was used. Blond
together % cup sugar, 3 table-
spoons cornstarch, I tablespoons
flour % tap salt. Stir into 2% cups
hots milk and cook over hot water

late, broken into small pieces, stir
until smooth. Add a small amount of
the hot custard to 3 beaten egg
yolks, stiring well, then sdd the
egg mixture to the balance of the
custard and stir until thoroughly
mixed, cook 2 minutes. Add 1 tea-
spoon vanilla. Pour the custard
into a baked pie shell. Top with
meringue made of 1 egg whites and
3 tablespoons sugar.

the group in singing club songs.
Mrs. Waldrop distributed cards
to members to be used with the
drive to secure blood donors for
the coming Red Cross Bloodmo-
bile Sept. 23, M. 23 in Abilene.
Pleasant Hill community has been
asked to supply twenty donors.

fifth reunion of the family of
Mrs. J. T. Ford and the late Mr.
Ford waa bald at Bridgeport Lake.
All of Mra. Ford’s living children
were present snd are: Mrs. Edmond
Bayent, Anson; Mrs. Maggie Talley,
Corsicana: Mra. Betty Hamilton.
Athena: Mrs. Jerry Bell, Fort
Worth: Mrs. Alf Holtzelaw, Dal-

Mr. and Mrs. Ford were plo-
neers of Taylor County,they settled
in Merkel in 1890 Mr. Ford came
from Alabama, and Mrs Ford was
a native Texan.
