Wholesale Grocery Plans
Expansion, Slock Increase
The Independent Wholesale Gro-
cery Co.’s plans to expand and in-
crease its capital stock. President
George Sallee said
Capital stock is being raised
from $60,000 to $100,000. Details
of expansion are yet to be worked
out.
Increase in capital stock is be-
ing made through declaration of a
33 13 per cent stock dividend,
which accounts for $20,000 and sale
of $20,000 in new stock.
New stock will be sold to new
stockholders as well as present
stockholders.
The company declared a 15 per
cent cash dividend on its 1963 oper-
ations.
At a stockholders meeting Tues-
day night, Sallee was re-elected
president. E. L Thornton was
elected chairman of the board to
succeed J. M. Lawrence of Sweet-
water.
Other officers are H. E. Thomas
1 of Loraine, first vice president;
Glen Haddox of Abilene, second
vice president; and C. W. Rogers
of Abilene, secretary.
Lloyd Browne and C. D. Cox
are the firm’s salesmen. Bob Nie-
mann is office manager. He will
be in charge of the company's ex-
pansion.
The firm, organized in 1946, is
located at South Second and Cher-
ry Sts.

was fined $1 and assessed $20.70
costs in Taylor County Court.
He had appealed a prior convic-
tion in the case from Corporation
Court City Judge A. K. Doss had
fined Harkrider $50 on the charge
in the lower court.
The case was heard in County
Court by Judge Reed Ingalsbe
Tuesday.
Doctor to Move
Dr. David F. Pugh, Abilene pe-
diatrician for the past five years,
will move June 1 to Rockville. Md.,
where he will do poet graduate
work in pediatrics at Georgetown
Medical School.
Dr. Pugh is a member of the
Taylor - Jones Medical Society,
the Texas Medical Association,
and the Texas Pediatric Society
and has applied for membership
in the American Academy of Pe-
diatrics. He was certified by the
American Board of Pediatrics
last fall.
Dr. and Mrs. Pugh have three
daughters, Kathleen, 7, Barbara,
4, and Christie, 14 months. The
Pugh home is at 4110 Waldemar
Dr.
Dr. Pugh’s’ office address in
Rockville will be 24 West Mont-
gomery Ave.
Night Bus Study
Clyde Grant, Abilene postmas-
ter, is chairman of a citizens'
gated by a 42d District Court grand
jury.

Among matters scheduled far
study by the Chamber of Com-
merce board of directors at a
meeting in the C C offices at 9
a. m. Thursday will be a report
by a special committee on the
Wherry Housing project for Abi-
lene Air Force Base, C-C Mana-
ger Joe Cooley said.
Mrs. Fannie Jones
Buried at Gorman
GORMAN, May U. <RN8> —Fu-
neral for Mrs. Fannie Jones, 8s,
were held Monday afternoon at
the German First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Tom Small officiat-
ing.
She died in her home Sunday
evening. She had been critically
ill for a week.
Mrs. Jones was born in Arkan-
sas Sept. 29, 1865, and sealed in
the Grandview community, where

she joined the Baptist Church 60
years ago.
Her husband, Ed Jones, preced-
ed her in death by three years.
Survivors are four children,
Mrs. Bertin Buchan of Saa Benito,
Mrs. Allen Goolsby and Mrs. J. C.
Davis, both of San Antonio; and
Jimmie Ellison of Gorman; a step-
son, Henry Jones of Saa Benito;
eight grandchildren: 12 great
grandchildren; and one great-
great-grandchild.
Burial was in Gorman Cemetery.
Methodist Pastors '

lene district will be held in Fel-
lowship Hall at St. Paul Methodist

viously been slated for Cobb Park
but that the heavy rains had caus-
ed the change of location.

whether the city should grant the
City Transportation Co.’s request
to end night bus service.
Mayor C. E. Gatlin, in making
the announcement Wednesday,
said other members of the com-
mittee are Henry Doscher Jr., an
attorney; and Q. L. Critchfield, an
accountant.
The committee after holding con-
ferences with the representatives
of the bus company will make re-
commendations to the city com-
mission, Gatlin said.
Tax Board to Meet
The Taylor County Board of
Equalization will bold two sessions
in June. The first meeting will be
for oil property valuations and the
second for real estate.
This was reported Wednesday by
Raymond 0. Petree, county tax
assessor-collector.
The board will meet at 9 a. m.
June 3 in the Courthouse to equal-
ize values of oil holdings in the
county.
Real estate adjustments will be
made at a meeting June 21.
Taxable properties will be equal-
ized for the current tax year which
began last Jan. 1. Petree said.
Forgery Charge
Lodged in the Taylor County Jail
