judges said an error had been
made and Mike Hawthorn, a top
British driver, was first

the Guardsman Trophy, at Fort
Worth and went on to win the
feature sports car event at the
Seafair races at Seattle, beating
record in the two-liter sports car
class, tied it in the one and one-
half liter class and the three-liter

unofficial course record.
