Tin legislative halls are' not the
places for lawmakers to exemplify
their efforts at oratory. The peo-
ple want as little wind as possible
from the next general assembly.—
[Pine Bluff Commercial.
All the same we expect t o see a
lot of “wind bags” take up much
of the time of the next Arkansas
Legislature “spouting” by the
hour although it will coat the
State from 1300 to 1500 an hour.
However we trust it will not be so
bad as heretofore.
I’uuii.isM will have to go. Attor-
ney General Clarke (who will be
our Governor Jan. Ist) says firmly
that no fighting will be permitted
to lie “pulled off” in Arkansas. Good
for “old cotton top" -he is the
right kind of officer and means
what he says every time. The
Memphis Commercial says: The
Florida Citizen published at Jack-
sonville has interviewed the mem
bers of the city council and they all
say they will not vote for an ordi-
nance permitting prize-fighting.
Corbett the champion recently
said that after his tight with Fitz
slmmons he would renounce the
ring and let others struggle for
the championship. The fact is he
will be the last of the champions
as the would-be fighters of the fu-
ture will be able to find no ground
upon which they may contest for
fistic laurels.
WHO HELPS THE FALLEN?
Do you often hear of a man try-
ing' to lift an unfortunate woman
when she falls from her high pedes
tai of honor and virtue? I think
not. When once she trips and falls
from her high and honorable posi-
tion she lands in a depth from which
few human hands will stoop to lift
her out. Husband and father
brother and son are too often deal
to her from that hour. But on the
other hand men fall as low as pos-
sible for men to fall; and yet the
wife will lift the husband from th*
gutter and press him to her heart
We have seen the wife follow the
husband through tliis life in one
constant whirl of misery and when
they separated at the gate of death
she would weep that she could go
no furtheiy We have seen mother
follow son and sister follow brothei
through paths where man rarely
known to follow woman. Who is to
blame for the downfall of woman?
Should he not be more ready than
any other to assist her to rise?

pleased to learn that there is at
least one dreaded disease that sci- i

Catarrh Cure is the only posivecure I
known to the medical' fraternity. |
Catarrh being a constitutional dis-1
ease requires a constitutional
treatment. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is
taken internally acting directly on
the blood and mucous surfaces of
the system thereby destroying the
foundation of the disease and giv-
ing the patient strength by building
up the constitution and assisting
nature in doing its work. Tue pro-

curative powers that they offer one

found this statement to be strictly true
Some two years ago two ulcers appeared on
my hip which after being sore a long time
broke and discharged. I also was attacked with
■dalle rheumatism my leg being drawn so that

knew what a good night’s rest was. The hip
trouble caused mo great trouble and annoyance
and eczema appeared on my hands. Naturally
I began to run down was weak and low spirit-
ed. The physician t old me my hip would have to
be operated upon before I would get any better I
At last J decided to take one bottle of Hood's
fiarsnparllla. In three weeks my rheumatism
entirely disappeared amt 1 found that
