Miss Nellie Sharman of Magnolia

her sister Mrs. John T. Owsley.
Drs. Carradine and Reinhart came
in last night and will open their

A city ordinance condemning
side walks when they are danger-
ous would be a good thing to push
along.
Mrs. Susan Roach of our ’city

where she goes to visit her son
there.
Hurty up and get your tickets
reserved for tonight. The house
will be a full one to witness “Dark-

the prices and not them.

i All of Dallas met in a monster
; meeting and in a preamble to the
Legislature recite the great wrong
about to be done Dallas in stopping
. the Corbett-Fitzsimmons fight.
They are willing to have a law pass-
ed stopping future prize fights but
: this one—nol They say Colonel
Stuart will be ruined if the fight is
stopped that many of the people
of Dallas have bought largely of
cat fish and navy beans to feed the
crowd on. There were many speech-
es made some by ministers who
were opposed to prize fights
“but” Dallas’ business interests
will suffer "doncherknow.” If Dal-
las is not reeking with rottenness
we never saw a city that was. The
Legislature was called together to
1 pass a law against prize fighting—-
; one that will stop the present fight
and It should pass such a law in
short order adjourn and go home.

It was a good audience that gave
a hearty welcome to Our Country
Cousins at the Maltz last night and
it was a good performance that our
Counntry Cousins gave the audience
. in return. Frank Jones is sur-
rounded by a large and very capa-
ble company of clean actors. The
plot is unusually strong and inter-
esting. It is a simple domestic story
filled with startling and excitiug sit-
uations and climaxes. For once
our people have seen a performance
as advertised and on the stage last
evening they saw a genuine thrash-
ing machine at its work a real nov-
elty to many of the younger people
there. A train of cars dashed
across the stage and a genuine
steamboat passed before their view.
Frank Jones as Jason lias the char-
acter of the down east farmer down
fine. Frank Young and Miss Lillian
Walton (Mrs. Frank Jones) can do a
decidedly clever dancing turn with-
out that low variety swagger char-
acteristic of dancers. The compa-
ny is ahead of any weeu here for
some time. If you inlsiied it last
night go tonight and you will not
regret it. Opera house Monday
